Personal solar/wind generaltion Bill (URF)
We already know about the advantages and disadvantages of wind and solar power. It is true that when applied on a large scale these do offer a viable source of electricity. However, many nations do not have the space/will to deploy these technologies on a large scale. Personal solar and wind generation has been a viable option for those in remote areas where the nearest power line is miles away for years now. On a small scale these technologies can provide enough electricity to supply the average home and possible even small business. These technologies continue to advance and become more efficient at electricity production.
Current methods of electrical production, while often environmentally damaging, are the only way to supply enough power to large consumers, such as big business and industry.
I propose that we provide subsidized solar and wind generation to homes and businesses interested in converting. There are many reasons why one might consider doing this.
- Reduces your individual ecological footprint
- Isolates your personal electrical system from lightning strikes on the grid
- Provides a sense of Independence, as you don't need to rely on the power company, or government (depending on your nation) to provide power.
- In some nations the power grid is not very reliable.
There are also benefits to the system. As the number of small consumers of electricity convert to solar and wind power, there will be more power available for larger consumers. This will provide better service, reduce the need to build more plants, and reduce carbon emissions (in nations that use fossil fuels for electricity). There will also be less need to build hydro dams that can damage river systems, or nuclear plants that produce toxic wastes.
