Overview

Project Divine Shield is a Cravanian homeland defense system created to protect mainland Cravan from aerial attack and thwart invasion. It is made up of hundreds of missile batteries, anti-air emplacements, and various other defenses. The network works in three stages of defense.

Aerial Stages of Defense

There are several stages of air defense, each more intricate and effective than the previous. Utilising several different weapons platforms, the Aerial Network provides an effective screen of cover from enemy attack from above.

First Stage

The first stage is an intricate web of flak and other conventional and some unconventional (such as rail guns) anti-air cannons capable of downing various types of aircraft. Tried and true, this part of the network is used to provide a screen that would keep enemy aircraft away long enough.

Second Stage

The next stage is a large system of long and medium range SAMs which are used to attack enemy aircraft with precise, destructive force.

Third Stage

The next and last stage of the network is the most expensive, and most advanced piece. Hundreds of Excalibur-type THEL chemical lasers and their smaller brothers dot the landscape of Cravan, providing a sphere of defense against any targets in range. The Excalibur-type lasers, which are located in heavily defended compounds, have their own power sources to allow for high volume use. Meanwhile, the smaller lasers can be found both around the Excaliburs and around regular defensive sites, providing an extra boost in defenses in the area.

Land Stages of Defense

The network also encompasses land assaults and invasions, and has numerous features to protect against oncoming enemy hordes. From fixed fortifications to defense strategies, the Land Network includes any tactics which can be used to effectively thwart invasion.

First Stage

The first stage of the Land Network are fixed artillery emplacements, which commonly are stationed with sections of the first stage of the Aerial Network. The first stage also includes some fixed defenses spread around the mainland, which fortify key points and choke points around the country.

Second Stage

The second stage of the network are the garrisons located around the nation, which house both active units and reserves. These garrisons, when properly alerted, can be prepared to move within two hours, giving the network mobility when defending key points. The garrisons and bases around Cravan provide an essential keystone to the network, allowing forces to be anywhere in the nation within a matter of hours to prevent an attack.

Strategic Stages of Defense

The network also relies on a Strategic Network, which intercepts incoming WMDs, usually of the ballistically launched variety. This portion of the network is crucial if the national Strategic Alert Level drops to 0.

First Stage

The first stage of the Strategic Network ties in with the first stages of the two other networks. It consists of ABM batteries scattered around Cravan, usually accompanying the first stages of the other two networks.

Second Stage

The second stage of the Strategic Network ecompasses the orbital defenses, and is usually the first to engage inbound missiles. The highlight of this stage is the Brilliant Pebbles system in place. In addition several satellites armed with Neutral Particle Beam Weapons and Excalibur-type THEL orbit the planet, offering further defense.
