Description in Brief

Sunset is one of the largest and most powerful nations that currently exists. Much of this power is due to their position as one of the pre-emminant nations of Mars and a justified reputation as one of the most reasonable and rational nations to deal with on the international scene. This reputation does not come unbacked by military might or economic power. With a frightening economy and a military that is ranked in the top .4% of all nations the government has the power to back up it's words with deeds.

While the nation is planetary based the collective eyes of the nation are firmly on the stars. Numerous out-system colonies hold the majority of the population and a highly advanced fleet of starships protects them while expanding humanities knowledge of the stars.

The nation's history is (hopefully) soon to be enacted. After the winning of the X-Prize by Scaled Composites and a boom in the commercial space flight industry rivaling the 19th Century railroad boom a group of private investors in the Pacific Northwest of North America heads for Mars. Settling in the Vallis Marineris region they settle in and begin building a new civilization based on libertarian principles of limited government, free trade, free will, and personal responsibility. Finally the population reached 5 million and the fledgling Republic of Sunset (Later Libertarian Paradise of Sunset) is born.
