Overview

The Talos class destroyer was Bryn Shander's first destroyer type, though the hull numbers would suggest otherwise. After the class had been in service for a few years, it was found that the design was completely inadequate for use as a fleet destroyer. In such a role, the Talos suffered from poor firing arcs, low firepower, and little offensive capability. In response, the Cassandra and Artemis class destroyers were designed, and the first 432 Talos class vessels were scrapped and the remaining 204 ships were assigned to patrol duty.

Unlike the other designs from Bryn Shander's second generation of ships, the Talos only recieved minor upgrades during it's lifespan. Though shields were installed after the battle with New Haven over Shen-Zhou, hyperdrives were not.

636 ships of the class were constructed over the life of the design.
