Iu Yusaf Soralar was born just under 172,000 years ago, in the Holy City of Laaniuar, the ruins of which have lain under the oceans of Kajal 300 kilometers south east of present-day Kajurmani. He was believed to be the mortal form of 'God', and it was he who founded the first Kaiaan Kingdom. The kingdoms of Kaiaa are regarded by modern mythology as a realm analagous to the terran concept of "Heaven", and fable tells of how Iu led the people himself for ten thousand years before the Insurrection of Solus and the War of the Shards. With Solus' insurrection, it is said that Iu grew increasingly distant from the people, until he left the Holy City at the end of the First Age. He disappeared until the end of the Second Age, when the then-Queendom of Kaiaa and Principality of Solus entered the early stages of the War of the Shards. It was then that he returned, in voice but not in form, and lent his support to the Queendom of Kaiaa. Mythology states that he had, in the course of the Second Age, transformed himself into what is described as the "Great Shard of Iu, Forge of Light".
His form was kept in secret in the mountains of Iir by the Queendom, and for five hundred years, he created for the Queendom mighty vessels that hung in the sky that would be known as the titular Shards of the War. The Principality of Solus, upon encountering Iu's Shards in battle, revealed their own monstrous skyships, and by the end of the War of the Shards, both the Queendom and Principality had been decimated, and the Shards, Iu, and Solus disappeared from the realm entirely.
It would not be until the Tenth Age of the Old Calendar, currently known as Present Day, that Iu would return to Kajal. Unknown to the authorities that be, he hides in plain site - walking amongst the people in his Kajali form. It is because Solus' return is near that he has returned to the blue pearl within the Pleaides, so that he may prepare the people upon it for the coming storm of war.
