This page lists the largest metropolitan areas in the Nationstates multiverse by population. Because of the nature of fractal reality and because different nations define metropolitan areas in different ways and some do not define them officially at all, the numbers given here should be taken, in many cases, as interpretations and comparisons based upon them should be treated with great caution.
Unless otherwise specified, figures are based on rough estimates for the year 2006 and rounded to the nearest 1,000. The appropriateness and consistency of the boundaries used is controversial and the aforementioned warnings apply.
