League Cup (Bedistan)
The League Cup is an annual football tournament in Bedistan, in which a number of professional clubs compete. It runs alongside the Bedistan Premier League and Bedistan Football League.
Format
The League Cup is a one-legged, nine-round knockout competition in which the 128 clubs in the Bedistan Premier League and Bedistan Football League participate. In each round, if the match ends in a draw, it is replayed at the home ground of the opposing team. The replay will go to extra time and/or a penalty shootout if necessary to resolve a draw. The aggregate score of the two matches is not used.
The 28 teams in the BFL Conference North and South go through the Qualifying Round, and the 14 winners are admitted to the Cup proper. In the First Round, they are joined by 40 clubs from the BFL Third and Fourth Divisions. In the Second Round, the winners join 20 more clubs from the Second Division. This round features an odd number of teams, so one of the 47 is randomly selected to receive a bye to the Third Round. In the Third Round, the 40 clubs in the BPL and BFL First Division enter the competition. This brings the total number of Third Round participants to 64, who participate in a simple knockout for the remainder of the Cup.
