The Syndicated Unicracy of Ivorila (Ivorilian: Syndkaya Yunkratya vil Ievurlazka) (SUI) or Ivorila (Ivorilian: Ievurlazka), is a country that stretches over a vast expanse of East New America and the Far East. With an area of approximately 8,000,000 km, it is the sixth largest country in the PEEL region, and is the second largest single body of land in the region. Ivorila is unique for its expansionist tendencies and unusual political system, Unicracy.

Introduction

Ivorila has many links to various nations and organizations of PEEL, many of which are long-lasting. Ivorila served for several years as the 2nd Administrator of COMECON in 2047 to 2051 before leaving the Socialist alliance to enter a period of relative isolationism to reform the political system with minimal foreign interference. Emerging from the Donovan era, Ivorila returned to normal diplomatic status with re-organization of the economy and Unicracy. Ivorila has recently applied for membership of MuDeAl, perhaps as a response to lacklustre international support for the Ivorilian-sponsored Independent Alliance. The foreign policy of Ivorila greatly depends on the personality of the First Minister at the time. For example, First Minister Donovan was quite isolationist and nationalistic, whereas current First Minister Clark is aiming for improving economic relations and further developing trade ties.

Most of the area is central government oriented, and the domain of Ivorila reaches from one coast of the Far East to the other. There are fourty-one semi-autonomous regions in Ivorila that are territorially Ivorilian, but with minor independence. The nation is influential over smaller neighbours and younger nations, and is returning to former ties held with Nurdbotia and the rest of the region. Generally, the people are intelligent and caring, with great minds for architecture and construction.

History

Ancient Ivorila

Records about Ancient Ivorila are scarce, but the examination of ruins in the northern mountainside show that native Ivorilians may be at least partially descended from Urallians or Zedoljevs. An ancient form of Zlevic was found carved liberally into the remains of a fortress in the foothills of the Carnegie mountain range, and while the translation process is going slowly, evidence seems to support the theory of Urallian descendance.

Black Legion Ivorila

For hundreds of years the original land of Ivorila was mostly ruled by a series of brutal warlords with little idea of economics or trade. The most well known of these bandit warlords was Duke Hamran "Iron Legs" Leltzor (STS 1875 - 1939), who often prided himself on the number of wenches he could ravish in ten minutes. In STS 1973 a government was formed to organize the people, but it had little support and reverted back into rival city states in STS 2034. In 2044, the massive space-faring ship Enigma entered the atmosphere of F'rama III and requested the Ivorilian countryside to rule. After consideration, the request was granted. The huge ship landed at the base of Alrenko Peak and opened the cargo bays. From within poured the combined might of the Black Legion, the organized and single-minded cybernetic army with a collective memory and no apparent leader at the time. Within a few short weeks the entire nation was under control of the Black Legion, bar a few small settlements on the outskirts.

After the complete takeover of the country, the Black Legion consolidated it's hold by naming the new nation Ivorila, after the old Sanscript word for "First of Many". With the entire country united as one and under control, they began the building of a city on the very superstructure of the Enigma itself. This huge city was named New Rantar, after the far-off moon where the Black Legion were originally engineered. New Rantar was made the capital, and construction of a similar nature began on the other cities already part of Ivorila.

In STS 2045, the leader of the Black Legion saw fit to give itself an embodiment. Through scientific means, the general collective of the Black Legion was implanted into the mind of a young Terran woman who had been killed in a riot against the Black Legion.

Modern Ivorila

Politics

The Syndicated Unicracy of Ivorila is a unicratic republic with two legislative houses, a single executive house, and a Head of State known as the First Minister, directly elected for a five year term, with moderate executive power. The First Minister resides in the ''Entrevard'', nominates immediate state officials within their power, and must remain within the boundaries of parameters set by the Grand Assemblage and TvpoI (The Voting Public of Ivorila). The First Minister can pass emergency decrees with the approval of the Grand Assemblage. For the First Minister to pass ordinary decrees (executive orders) requires the consent of TvpoI.

Ivorila’s unicameral executive parliament of sorts, the Grand Assemblage (Ivorilian: Ghanoye Relkysar) consists of the main 300 delegates from all sectors of Ivorilian society. The head of the Grand Assemblage is the Second Minister, who chairs the meetings and ensures order. 11 delegates are the directly elected representative Viceroys of each of the ten states of Ivorila. 249 members are the Chamberlains, elected in an impartial process for two years, similar to jury-duty on the planet known as Earth. The remaining 41 members are the representatives of smaller semi-autonomous island republics and territories within Ivorila.

Ivorila’s two legislative houses will be discussed in the Justice section. (See below)

Subdivisions

The Syndicated Unicracy of Ivorila consists of a proportionally small number of different unitary subjects, with a total of 51 constituent components. 10 of these are direct unitary states and 41 are semi-autonomous republics of the north-west island territories or eastern kingdoms, which mostly consist of absorbed neighbours not willing to fully submit to the unicratic republic body.

Geography

The Syndicated Unicracy of Ivorila encompasses much of the centre of the sub-continent of the Far East. Much of the inhabited Arctic and sub-Arctic areas in PEEL are located in the north of Ivorila, particularly near the Capital State. Though the snowy mountain ranges in the north are the most well known images of Ivorilian landscape, a variety of diverse landscapes can easily be found. Vast vegetative plains, particularly prevalent in the south and centre of the country, take up much of the area, but are seldom known of outside Ivorila. On the western shores of Kief, the sandy beaches are a popular tourist attraction and the site of several nautical installations open to the public.

Notable parts of Ivorilian geography are the many mountains and summits, like Carnegie Peaks in the north near the capital New Rantar and the Laru Mountains dividing the continental cities from the east coast border. The highest point in Ivorila is the south western Mon Nostra (at 5,966 m), and is also the source of uranium mining programs initiated in the late 2040’s. At the smallest central contiguity state Winnarila lies a heavily forested national park. Early incursions in 2046 for uranium mining have led to a ban on open-cut mining operations in the forest sanctuary.

The three main coasts with direct access to the high seas are the Kief coastline (north-west, notable for tourism and several minor semi-autonomous island republics), the Great Eastern Shoreway (entire east coast, notable for natural gas and oil drilling foundations and several low key military war games) and the Slinjarayka-Jytev (Transliteration: Trans-Slimmonean Bay). Further within the country are several major waterways in central Ivorila, like the fishing community Odwaldo Straits, which come into the country from within nearby neighbours such as New Lestopia, the Free Allied States, and Atbar Regulak.

Borders

The easiest way to look at the geographic state of Ivorila is to see it as a solid and connected miniature continent, with little emphasis on off-shore establishments. The largest cluster of islands and archipelagos lies of the north-western coast; several of these islands are classified as autonomous kingdoms within the unitary republic. For purposes of simplification, they will not be emphasized.

The central state’s borders and coasts (starting in the far north-east and continuing clockwise) are:

 • a long coastal region along the Decapodian Sea, facing the Western Spur on a full planetary rotation
 • a southern border with the Slimmonean city state New Lestopia as well as a small bay from part of the Turanga Ocean

Spatial extent

The two furthest points in Ivorila are estimated to be 4,658 km (2,911.5 mi) apart along the equatorial line. These two points are Kavrojd Island Republic (off the western-most Kief coastline) and the boundary point between Ivorila and Bamonia, (furthest south-east point, just underneath the mainland autonomous kingdom state Antion). The exact points are disputed by official government records and local border control, but these are the generally accepted points.

Ivorila spans across five time zones, from west to east. There is also a separate sixth time zone for the northern-most parts of the nation, ahead of the nearest time zone by 15 minutes.
