The 3rd Shock Army has had a colorful history, stretching from its creation at the beginning of the Panselle War to its failed Crown Head campaign. Originally formed to ciunter the Akaeian offensive over the Salis, the 3rd was thrown into the bloody maelstrom that was Marbicourt. There they proved their worth by turning back the Akaeian army from Saint Michele and earned its commander, General Anton Poiret, great praise from the King.

However, with the success of the Henri Rechamp Revolution Poiret was forced to flee into exile, and the Army, known for its royalist sympathies, was sent north to Denard. With the return of King Reynarde, however, the unit was restored to its former honor and stationed to the Akaeian frontier. Even with the impending defeat of the King they remained along the border, determined to defend their nation against a possible Akaeian attack. Since the Lily Revolution Poiret and his army have remained under a cloud of suspicion regarding their loyalty, and so have been kept far away from the capital.

The 3rd Shock Army numbers 45,000 as a standard: however, the number fluctuates. For example, at Crown Head the army had expanded to 50,000 with the attachment of additional pioneer and artillery personnel. 40% of the army are veterans of the Panselle War and constitute the NCOs and junior officers of the army, while 95% served during the Three Day's War, making for a well-disciplined and elite fighting force.
