History

Background

The Federation of Rineu is an ancient federal formation of states previously independent in the area of the world known as Rineu, now a recognised region. The language spoken is a form of English, although many of the more ancient words come from Latin.

Currency

The currency was previously the Rin however due to hyperinflation several years ago the Grand Rin was introduced to replace the Rin to improve stability of the currency. The Grand Rin ended up having to be withdrawn due to printing and demand problems. Recently the Grand Circle Rin has been introduced, the Circle symbolising both the shape of the coins and the ever-lasting and stable nature of it. The Grand Circle Rin has been so successful that some other countries in the region have taken it on as their currency also.

Flag

The flag of the Federation, known as the Vexillum Ferocia, contains an image of a dove to symbolise peace and two red bars symbolising the nation’s long standing commitment to compassion and social democracy.

In recent years the Federation of Rineu holds the office of Grand Head of State of the Region of Rineu which results in the capital city, the City of Rineu, being also the Capital of the Region of Rineu. City of Rineu is therefore the centre of the regional government however Departmental Offices are based in whichever regional member country currently holds the Ministership for the respective departments.

Geography

The Federation of Rineu sits relatively central within the Region of Rineu with only 31 miles of coast line, bordering Mafertopia to the south, Neudegg to the West and Uot to the North. It has 12 regions 4 of which are wholly city urban regions, although other cities are included in the other regions, each of which has its own elected Regional Leader. The 4 City regions are: The City of Rineu, Polikeu, Ritox and Neuia. The largest city, also the capital of both the Federation and the Region of Rineu is the City of Rineu.

Ruling Party: Rineu ONE (in colliation with Libx and Green Parties)

Opposition Party: Hine Party

The Rineu ONE Party is a Democratic Socialist Party whereas the Hine Party takes a more conservative and lower tax line.

Elections

Elections for the High Leader of the Federation are held once every 10 years and there are no term limits.

Elections for the Federation Parliament are held once every 6 years, the last being held 31st Jan 2007.

The High Leader

The current High Leader of the Federation does not belong to a political party and stood as an Independent candidate since first standing for office two terms ago. He was previously Chancellor of the University of Rineu City, the nations leading University, and a lecturer in History. He famously has an IQ of 203, as reported by the Rineu Reporter newspaper.

The High Leader of the Federation also holds the title of Grand Head of State of the Region of Rineu, a historically unelected role.

Relationship with the United Nations

The country is not a member of the United Nations, although it once was. This is partly because of a dispute between the Federation of Rineu and the United Nations over a proposal that had reached quota to be voted on and yet was still deleted before it hit the floor and partly so the Federation of Rineu can remain more independent in regional politics as Grand Head of State. When the Federation was a UN member it was the first President of the Regional Rineu a situation which shall no longer be repeated.
