History

The Creation

The region of Hyrule was formed by the three godesses Din, Nayru, and Farore. It is widely believed that these three goddeses were created themselves by an ultimate being known only as the Supreme Creator.

According to legend, Din created the physical geography of the realm, Farore created the flora and fauna, and Nayru gave the laws of physics to the realm. Once the goddesses had completed their tasks, they departed for the heavens, and left behind them three golden triangles. Into these, they gave their power to govern all things; this became known as the Triforce.

NationStates History

2004

2004 marks the beginning of Hyrule. However, as there was no regional forum, nor was there any form of government besides the delegate, there are little records of what happened in Hyrule during this year - the records that exist are from memory.

The region was founded a few months before 30 June, 2004 by the nation of Kholint, the exact date of founding is not known. A small group of a small group of active Zelda fans also came along to join. Kholint became the first delegate of the region, who was most likely elected a few days after the region's founding.

It is known that the region was then seeking to create an alliance with the now-defunct region of Termina at the time, however nothing is known about that region.

Sometime around June 2004, the region was invaded. However, due to the invaders griefing the telegram box of Kholint, they were deleted. Many nations, including Kholint, disappeared around this time. On 30 June, 2004, Tri-Hylians became the delegate - a posistion he would hold (with a brief interuption) until April 22, 2005.

Throughout the rest of 2004, the region was in relative peace. The world factbook entry also stated that there was going to be a map, however these plans didn't come to fruition until Ness Snorlaxia made one in 2005. The region also reached a height of 35 nations during the year.

2005

The year of 2005 marked a major change for Hyrule. Beginning in April 2005, the region of Hyrule saw many massive changes that would lead it to become a large, influental region in the NationStates world.

January to April 2005

The first three months of 2005 saw life in Hyrule continue as it previously had in 2004. However, the population declined until the point Hyrule reached 19 nations. Tthings started to change at the end of March - Tri-Hylians, delegate at the time, set up an off-site forum for the region. However, it wasn't too popular at first - only three nations joined during the first few weeks of its existance.

April, however, was a month of change. The first of these changes was the creation of a reigonal map - which had been wanted for about a year. This map was created by Ness Snorlaxia.

The second major change was the beginning of recruitment. Someone who controlled a nation called "Hyrule Recruitment" posted ads on RMBs of feeder regions. This worked wonders - through this effort, our population increased to 80 nations by May 2005. Also, several nations that joined via ads were ones who helped change the region.

Last, but not least, was the third major change: our region started diplomatic contact with other regions. The first region Hyrule made diplomatic contact with was Allied Union of Nations.

Sometime during the middle of the month, a nation called Spot became the regional delegate, however he did not want the posistion, and Tri-Hylians became delegate after he recieved 4 endorsements. Peace and prosperity continued until April 22.

Regional Invasion

On April 22, 2005, sevral nations from the now-defunct region of Cotham and Cakeland came into Hyrule and endorsed a nation called Marionettles, who was the founder of the region. The nations that invaded said that they were fleeing from that region - though several nations saw through that ploy. According to one of the invader nations, they invaded because they saw that Hyrule was small and had no founder.

Due to the delegate being inactive at the time, the invaders were not able to be ejected, and around 4:00 AM Eastern Standard Time on April 23, Marionettles became delegate. A few hours later, he ejected several nations who were against the invasion (who were kept on the banlist several hours after the invasion). Many of these prominent natives went to a region set up by a friendly nation from a foreign region.

Unkowingly to the invaders, a nation in Hyrule had a puppet nation. He used that nation to gather the regional password that the invaders set up, enabling defender nations to access the region. The invader delegate also was not active at the time, which also helped in gaining the region back.

The following day, early in the morning, the defender delegate of Toodeloo was elected to the delegacy. The banlist was cleared, the password was reset, and most of the invaders fled - the invaders that did not leave were ejected. However, one invader nation said that they would leave the region by April 27th, had the invaders stayed in the region.

Later in the day, the next delegate was chosen on an off-site poll. Ness Snorlaxia was chosen as next delegate of the region, she became delegate on April 25 and the confusion surrounding the invasion was over.

Ness Snorlaxia becoming delegate marked a major point in Hyrule's history and brought along many changes.

After the Invasion

After the invasion, order was returned for the most part, though the defenders still were in the region to keep watch and endorse the delegate. The defenders left by the end of April, when the region was in relative peace. One notable event was when Hyrule had 50 nations on April 26th, which made it able to be ranked on the list of largest regions.

This relative peace would not last long, however. An unknown invader group led by a nation called Juan Duarte attempted to invade the region - however, a defender nation warned Ness Snorlaxia of this and the nations were ejected. A flurry of defender nations came to the region to endorse the delegate, though they soon left after finding out the invaders were ejected.

The Summer of 2005

After that attempt, no other invader groups invaded and the region was in relative peace with the world, again. During May, embassies were opened with the regions of Q102 and Aberdeen, our second and third at the time.

The major event of May 2005 was when the founder of the region, Kholint, was revived. Later in the day, he came back from Lazarus (and became the 80th nation in Hyrule at the time).

The Second Half

June was basically a "slump" month for Hyrule, as we entered a recession during the beginning and middle of the month. June was also a month for change, as the basis for the law of the region was established. That month was also when Hyrule became allied with Aberdeen and established foreign relations with Futaba Aoi. It also marked low voter turnout in UN resolutions.

By the end of the month, the regional recruitment drive was put into full force, and the massive amounts of recruiting boosted the region's population over 100 for the first time - another monumental event.

July, however, was a better month for Hyrule, as the region recovered wonderfully. The beginning of the month saw the region's population go up to a high of 140 nations and the establisment of embassies in the Federation of Allied Nations and Scroll Islands. It also saw increased activity on the offsite forum and map. The other half of the month was pretty much the same, the region still was showing growth. Two major things happened, though: The first was that Kholint ceased to exist, again, due to inactivity. The second was the region's second alliance, with the region Futaba Aoi. The remainder of the month went well, with the opening of an embassy with the Allied States of EuroIslanders later in the month, and another massive recruitment drive pushing the region to the 190 mark, and a high voter turnout in UN resolutions.

August started off with the region surging past the 200 nations mark on August 1. The next day, the population went up even more, and it also saw Ness Snorlaxia's 100th day of being delegate. Voter turnout for UN resolutions were also pretty high. On August 21, the region hit another high of 300 nations.

Foreign Affairs

Ever since May of 2005, one of the region's priorities is establishing foreign contact. As of 24 July, 2005, Hyrule has embassies or consulates in the following regions:
