Introduction
The Grand Duchy of Iyari is a large, socially progressive nation located on the island of Lyudia in the region Wysteria. After the dissolution of the Meraz Empire, 12 of the 14 duchies were united by Duke Solomon Iyari I to form the Grand Duchy of Iyari. A modern, industrialized nation, Iyari is one of Wysteria's largest manufacturers of electronic equipment and services.
Geography
Location
Located on the Southeast corner of Lyudia continent, bordered on the west and north by the Kingdom of Ruperts.
Climate
Temperate; clear, hot summers in interior, more moderate and cloudy along coast; cloudy, cold winters in interior, partly cloudy and cool along coast.
Terrain
Blackrock Mountains extend along the east, surrounded by rugged hills and forests. Flat plains to the west. Central Lyudian desert extends into northwest Iyari.

People
Most native Iyarians are descended from the Merazi peoples, although there are small minorities of peoples from throughout Wysteria. While many religions have been making their presence felt in Iyari, most people continue to follow the teachings of the Merazi philosopher Agnocis, collectively known as Agnocism, which is more a way of life rather than an organized faith. While both English and native Iyar are the official languages, Iyar is used primarily for official use and tradition.

Economy
Iyari posesses well-developed industrial, agricultural, and mining sectors. The current government has instituted a tighter fiscal policy aimed at reducing the national debt and reviving the national economy, which suffered after a series of domestic and international shocks and inflated government spending. Government takeover of certain industries, coupled with higher taxes and better management, have managed to bring down inflation and stimulate the economy, which grew last year for the first time in 3 years. A booming tourism industry has also helped in stimulating the economy.

Iyari posesses a large, technologically advanced, multipurpose communications system. A large domestic system of fiber-optic cable, microwave radio relay, coaxial cable, and domestic satellites carries every form of telephone traffic; a rapidly growing cellular system carries mobile telephone traffic throughout the country.

Transportation
A varied network of paved highways, standard and high-speed rail, and commercial waterways connects Iyari. Pipelines carry petroleum and natural gas. All cities and large suburbs posess public transportation systems.
