The Republic of Lambon sometimes known as "R.O. Lambon" or "R.O.L." is a Nation made up of a collection of Islands situated in the Atlantic Ocean. There are 10 different islands that form the Nation, 5 of which are too small for inhabitants. The Nation has only existed for 11 years after being re-named from The People's Republic of Mastaise in 1996 (this collection of islands also used to be called Castosas).

History

Pre-1900

Due to lack of Historical documents and archaelogical evidence the early history of The Republic of Lambon is still considered a mystery by many experts. A historical report was published in 1999 by the government itself, is still considered the most accurate to date. The following information has been picked out from this report:

The Native people, used to refer to this collection of Islands as "Castosas", which we believe to be Portuguese. There was many conflicts during the years 1745-1825 and we believe that the control of these Island's were originally by the Native tribes. New evidence confirms that in 1745 it was taken over by a tribe from Western Nigeria. This was to end just 2 years later when in 1747 an Army from a country near South America (believed to be - now the Nation of Argentina) defated the Nigerian militia and claimed the islands. They held this for 45 years but for an unknown reason abandoned the region in 1792. By this time the population was about 10 million people.

It is believed that a lost Russian explorer, Vladamir Koleshilikov, and his crew landed on this island in 1803, and taught the Natives his culture. However Koleshilikov died in 1817 for unknown reasons. The country - mixed by cultures broke out into civil war which lasted 8 years, until a temporary regional government was put in place in 1825 by a "neutral" British minister, Sir Thomas Smith, who had heard about the conflict.

This government, soon turned into a dictatorship in 1868; led by an old, powerful man with an Italian accent (according to reports). His name was Filipe Navorro and his origins are unknown, however he managed to control the region with a personal army of 3,000 strong. The population had rapidly rose, and by 1885 there was 35 million people living on the Islands. The Portuguese saw this area as a huge colonial opportunity and claimed the land in 1889 when the popular leader Filipe Navorro (aged 86) was assassinated.

1900-1994

The Islands, still relatively unknown, were opened up to the world in the 20th century and the Portuguese held this land as a Colony until 1947, when the area was split into 3 separate states; Manturo, Kalstazaar, and Blaise. These states were constantly in conflict with each other, but peace was declared in 1960, when the 3 Nationalist leaders agreed on the borders of their state. The 3 leaders were, Massini (leader of Manturo), Osserbo (leader of Kalstazaar) and Roberto Castos (leader of Blaise).

All 3 leaders lasted an impressive 34 years in power, however, on 1st September 1994 all 3 leaders were assassinated by an unknown organisation - this came to be known as the "tri-Deaths".

1995-Present

The 3 nationalist-run states were in crisis after the "tri-deaths" incident a year earlier. In 1995, they were united into one Nation by a liberalist named Alberto Duano - he named it; “The People’s Republic of Mastaise”.

As a new democratic government was set up in Castos City, the nation immediately broke out into civil war due to rich landowners and Nationalists wanting to keep possession of their land from the coming-to-power Communist parties. Suddenly a new party, “Lambon” rose up and gained a massive 76% of the vote within 6 months. After coming to power the country was swiftly renamed “The Republic of Lambon”.

The new party changed the style of government and within a year the country became a single party state. The economy rapidly improved under the current “Lambon era”, and population boomed. Isla Sornica was made into a island devoted to the development of the Armed forces, and Isla Navorro made into a giant prison island. "Campo Duano" was created on Isla Sornica and started creating Elite soldiers called, "The Sornica's".

The Castos City Revolt started in June 1998, when a bomb exploded in a hotel in Castos City. The government were blamed for these actions by the public, despite the President making a statement that they were not involved. Violent riots began accross the province of Blaise, but were stopped immediately by the elite fighting force, "The Sornica's". After this event the government decided to start increasing National Security and employed a secret police force, known only as the LSSP. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown in recent years.

The Republic of Lambon applied to join the United Nations in 2004, and was accepted in. In 2007 the Nation joined with many other Nations in the Region of Elarim and currently holds the position of "High Emperor".

Geography

Please click here for a map of the Republic.

The largest and Main island is called Isla Lambon with Isla Sornica to the East and Isla Navorro to the west. These islands make up the majority of the population with a few people living on Livorno Island and Isla Esterrandos.

Isla Lambon

This vast Island; 3 times the size of the UK, homes the majority of the population. The Island is split into 3 provinces. These are based on the original 3 states that used to be separate nations. The 3 provinces are Manturo, Kalstazaar, and Blaise

Manturo

Capital: Manturos City

Features: Mt. Arturo (the tallest point of the Republic)

Information: Manturo was the region whereby the 19th century Italian dictator, Filipe Navorro, was based. His government and army operated from here, and Arturo Mountain was named after his son (Arturo Navorro - who was murdered in 1879). It remains to this day an important Province renound for its environmental beauty.

Kalstazaar

Capital: Halzaas City

Features: The Republic Docks, Klasov Mountain range, Link to Isla Navorro

Information: Kalstazaar has a distinct Russian background, and there is a monument in Halzaas City; a statue of the Russian explorer who landed here in 1803, Vladamir Koleshilikov. The statue reads "Наша культура - здесь" which means simply, "Our culture - here". Although frowned upon by the government the monument stays. The Province has been made very important in recent years because of the Republic Docks being held in the East. This is the main Naval base for the Republic. This Province is seen as the most criminal-free, due to its direct link to Isla Navorro (jail island).

Blaise

Capital: Castos City.

Features: Mastas City, Airport, LSSP Base, Link to Isla Sornica

Information: This region is seen as the most significant with the government and economy being run from Castos City. This provice remains the main link between other countries from the International Airport to the East. It also has a direct link to Isla Sornica (home of the Armed Forces). Mastas City is also found in Blaise, and is the most historical city within the Republic; which was used as the Governing city for many years. The old Parliament building within Mastas City has "A Cidade de Mastas - O lar do governo de Castosas." in big stone letters on the wall (simply meaning, "The City of Mastas - The home of the government of Castosas" (Castosas being the old name for these islands)).

Isla Sornica

This island used to be quite barren with only as few hundred citizens, until it was converted into one huge military base in 1996. Nearly all of the Armed Forces are trained and homed here, along with the ROLAF (the Republic Of Lambon Air Force). "Campo Duano" is famous for producing the most elite soldiers, only ever used once against a revolt in Castos City in 1998.

Isla Navorro

This island was made into a giant prison in 1996 (it was named after the 19th century Dictator, Filipe Navorro), and most of the details of this island is kept confidential and unknown. However, it has become the centre of controversy around the world due to the unknown treatment of criminals. There have been reports of executions, and even similarities to concentration camps.

Livorno Island and Isla Esterrandos

Both of these Islands are too small to inhabit a major city, but both hold traditional fishermen towns which are kept for cultural reasons.

Other Islands

There are 5 other Islands in The Republic of Lambon, and although they have been named they are, however, too small for inhabitants. They are called: Isla Caborras, Isla Ornaca, Isla Esterrero, Isla Inturanos and Isla Guarnos.

Language

Due to many historical conflicts the language of the Republic is a variant of English, with elements of many different languages, such as: Portuguese, Russian, Italian and Spanish.
