Legalese is a moderate-sized nation in Atlantian Oceania. It is bordered by Starblaydia on the north, The Lowland Clans to the south/southwest; on the west/northwest by Lake Bekk, and on the east by the Nemyan Strait. The freedom-loving Legalites have a unique understanding and respect for the rule of law, practiced through democratically elected officials.

Governmental Organization: Legalese is divided into eight(8) self-governing regions, along with one settlement, which will be upgraded to regional status in due time. The regions are each headed by a regional council, elected by the populace, who handle the powers delegated to the regions.

The central government is split at the domestic level into a semi-merged executive/legislative, along with an independent judicial system.

Legislative: The Legalese Senate is a unicameral legislative body. Its members, numbering 200, are allocated on a proportional basis to the regions, provided that each region shall have a minimum of 20 senators, and a maximum of 40. The senators themselves will be chosen in two ways:

-Direct election: at least one-half of the senators per region will be chosen in a direct popular vote. Their terms shall be three (3) years long, with no limits on length of service.

-Regional Council representation: the remaining senators will be chosen by/among the regional council(s). The head of the council shall take one of the region's allocated seats, with the council voting among its membership to allocate the remaining seats. The only requirement of a regional councilor on the senate is that they were directly elected to their seat on the regional council. They shall serve until they either lose their seat on the regional council, or

-No senator who was elected via direct election may serve on the regional councils. Likewise, no councilor who serves on the Senate may be eligible for positions in the executive.

Executive: The Chief Executive of Domestic Policy shall be called the Consul. He/she shall be elected by a full vote of the Senate, held in the first session following the new term for directly elected Senators. To be eligible for Consul, one must be a member of the Senate that was directly elected to the role, and hence must not be a member of a regional council.

The Consul will be in charge of the Consulate, containing all the executive departments/ministries regarding domestic policies/actions. He/she shall appoint the heads of the departments, with any Legalese citizen eligible. If an eligible senator is chosen (i.e. a senator not serving on a regional council), no approval is necessary from the Senate. If a non-senator is chosen, the Senate must approve the appointment, and may appoint a Senator to handle oversight of the position. A Senator handling oversight of the department has no duties within the department, but a responsibility to report the department's actions to the Senate.

Judicial: Each region shall have its own court system. Appeals above the regional system shall be taken first to the National Courts of Legalese. The final point of appeals, however, will be the Supreme Court of Legalese. This shall be a body of seven (7) life-elected justices. They shall stand as the final interpreters of Legalese Codes, as well as advising the Consulate and Senate on domestic action (with reference to the law).

The Supreme Court holds a position of slightly higher importance than the other branches, with regards to its place in foriegn relations. The Chief Justice shall serve at the Head of State, and will be responsible for foriegn relations, with advice from the rest of the Court.
