Introduction
The Theocracy of Melixia is a tiny nation of the western hemisphere, consisting of four distinct islands (Augmentoria, Beboppo, Dimlandia, and Octale) known for their cultural and spiritual developments. While the nation has flourished culturally through time, the current government has put an industrializing, and primarily Roman Catholic, choke hold on the nation's native life.
The Theocracy of Melixia was formed on April 2, 1956 when the previous Utopian Socialist establishment, known as the Union of the Peaceful Peoples of Melixia (Melixian Union), fell. The collapse was due to a revolutionary revolt led by the nation's hero, Louis von Locrian.
The four islands of Melixia and surrounding islands have been referred to as "Melixia" for thousands of years. The meaning of the word is not clear, but legend has it that the earliest recorded dictator of Melixia named the nation after their family pet dog. The current king of Melixia is the illustrious and heroic William Evans, grandson of Louis von Locrian.
Etymology
The name "The Theocracy of Melixia" was first coined in 1958 in the written work The Progress of Nations in the Twentieth Century by the famous French skeptic Michael de Fontainebleau. The meaning of the word "Melixia" is commonly thought of as the name of the pet dog of the first recorded dictator. This is unlikely, however, and recent discoveries have found that the name is likely a word meaning "land" in the early dialect Tritoli around 300 BC. The term was originally a loose description of the cluster of seven islands in the western hemisphere that the current Theocracy of Melixia is within.
Geography
The Theocracy of Melixia consists of four separate islands. The islands are in the western hemisphere, but the two small islands - Beboppo and Octale - are southern and almost parallel to each other vertically. The tiny island Dimlandia is north of the two islands. The largest island, Augmentoria, is the most northern and dominates the nation by way of land mass and population.
The islands Beboppo and Octale have a somewhat tropical climate, though this is mostly experienced in the most southern areas - which are abundant with rain forest but lacking in human population. The tiny island of Dimlandia has very humid summers and mild winters. The largest island of Augmentoria has the most diverse climate, the southern areas tend to have very hot and dry summers, while the northern regions tend to be milder. The winters are hardly harsh and it occasionally snows in the northern regions of Augmentoria.
The islands of Beboppo and Octale are covered in tropical rain forests in the south, but the northern regions are mainly grasslands spotted with marsh. Dimlandia is centered around a dead volcano. The last eruption of this volcano was in 1929. Augmentoria has a flat grassland in the south, but the northern regions are quite hilly and there is Mt. von Locrian at the northernmost tip of the island, reaching an altitude of 6,294 feet.
History
Native Melixians
The four islands of Melixia were once apart of a much larger island, which may have been blasted into many small islands by a large meteorite, dubbed "Fleesie's Rock" by many knowledgeable scientists. The people who lived on the large island likely migrated from the then-close continental mainland, which could have been seen on the horizon. This is just a hypothesis, however, because there has been little evidence about the original Melixians and the meteorite that blasted apart the island. The natives had a polytheistic religion that was originally unorganized. It was centered on alchemy and superstition. They had a book written in the early languages Tritoli and Mixodyian, and were later translated into Latin and Greek after the 1672 Revolt. Around 1900 AD the books were finally translated into English and 20 other languages. These books were banned in 1958 and mass book burning demonstrations have plagued the islands since 1960.
Early Government
The first forms of government were seen with the despot Marcus Cornelius Marcellus, an immigrant who historians know little of, in about 200 BC. He rallied men throughout Augmentoria and created the first army known to the area. The men conquered over 30 islands in the surrounding area, but lost many of the islands due to internal strife and revolt. Marcellus was placed as dictator of the land, but his successors lost increasing amounts of control of the islands due to their general unpopularity. By 50 AD, the dictatorship dissolved and the peoples of the remaining islands created somewhat feudal systems in each of their islands. The wealthiest landowner always dominated the others and served as a make-shift leader until another landowner expanded their wealth and naturally dominated the islands.
From the 1672 Revolt through Absolutism
The revolt of 1672 was a revolt of the peasants in the previously feudal society. They were led by Alfonso di Medicicci, who was an Italian immigrant. He was a lover of the arts, and when he was exiled from Italy in 1650 and forced to live in Melixia, he saw the impoverished natives and knew that a new system of government was crucial to the happiness of the people. He rallied the peasants of Leninosky, which was a large trade center in southern present day-Augmentoria. The revolt occurred March 15, 1672 and news of this event (spread by the development of the printing press) sparked further revolts in the islands surrounding Augmentoria. Fifteen islands revolted, but they split up by religion in groups of seven, five and three.
The rich landowners of the seven islands (Augmentoria, Beboppo, Dimlandia, Octale, Popelia, Jamik, and Zaboor) decided to create a constitutional monarchy with the illegitimate son of di Medicicci, Larslov d'Albernioss (mothered by a wealthy land owner's daughter), as their monarch. They were called the Alliance Between Monarch and Peoples of Melixia.
D'Albernioss was a strict ruler and eventually overpowered the tiny, powerless parliament and dissolved it in 1676 after three years of rule. His rule morphed into an absolute monarchy and he ruled successfully for 60 years. His successors successfully maintained the absolutist state until 1892, when a dissatisfied middle class led a mass revolt against the monarchy.
Evil Utopian Socialism
The Revolt of 1892 was led by Chiiya Guevarina, a self-educated woman of the middle class. She was an avid follwer of Marxism and, influenced by Robert Owens, peacefully led the nation to a Utopian Socialist society, despite Marx's hatred of such a commune. They maintained this stupid, worthless society for almost 65 years.
Beginnings of Modern Rule
The heroic, illustrious, and probably magical Louis von Locrian started a revolution by spreading the Roman Catholic faith throughout the four wonderful islands of Augmentoria, Beboppo, Dimlandia and Octale. The other three islands of the Alliance Between Monarch and Peoples of Melixia separated from the four islands of present day Melixia. They formed their own government, called the League of Islands, which is now an official enemy to the nation of Melixia. The main revolt against the Utopian Socialist society occurred on April 2, 1956. Louis von Locrian defeated the Utopian Socialists quite easily, and immediately set up a monarch led by the divine.
Current Rule
The current king of the Theocracy of Melixia is William Evans, grandson of the glorious Louis von Locrian, the Friend of the Peoples, Speaker of the Divine, True Leader of the Theocratic Alliance of Melixia. He is loved by all and is guided directly by God. He is the chosen leader of Melixia. May he lead us until his dying day.
