The Earthsea of Mushy Pea is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed population of 1.853 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Equality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Gambling is outlawed, notable individuals are granted land and titles, the government is attempting to revitalize a gutted private sector, and euthanasia is legal. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare.

Geography

The Island

The Nation of Mushy Pea is made up of a small archipelago of island and a mainland connected to the colossal continent known as The Spectrum. The archipelago island is known as The Stardust City. This island is one vast city, which contains the Palace of The Stardust City. The remaining islands contain several small tribes of Mushy Peans all of which live peaceful lives and make up the majority of Emirs who enter the Outer Sanctum of The Stardust City, as they are the most devout followers of the Church of Mushy Pea.

Mainland Mushy Pea

The mainland of Mushy Pea is located North-East of The Spectrum and borders with two powerful nations, Dhatsun and I Know Better Than You. Dhatsun borders to the south of Mushy Pea and is an important trading partner for the Information Technology business sector. Mushy Pea prides itself on the latest technology that is produced due to the progressive exchanges from Dhatsun. To the west of Mushy Pea is I Know Better Than You, majoring in economy, the trades - although not often in occurrence - are hugely profitable for the Mushy Peans and the defence policies which are upheld. As Mushy Pea is currently disbanding most of its military as it wishes to remain a peaceful nation, it can rely on its commerce with I Know Better Than You for its needs of militia.

History

The small island located to the northeast of the mainland, known today as The Stardust City, was the founding island in the development of the nation of Mushy Pea. Earliest records show that the First War, in the progress of the nation, dates back to 750BC between the two tribes of the island, the Mushy Peans and the Butter Beanese. This later developed the reason for expansion of the Nation.

The Early Years

A three-year war ensued between the tribes until the Butter Beanese Chieftain fell under the blade of Sativum Lincoln – Warrior King of the Mushy Peans. A peace treaty was soon devised but never signed, as the Chieftain’s son Heimdall Lunatus no longer wished for his people to remain on the newly named Island of Mushy Pea. Forming the Romani Empire, they moved far west.

Sativum Lincoln remained on the island and after being voted most eligible bachelor on the island for the fifth time running he settled down with a local village girl Kala Chana-Cicer, before he built the beginnings of The Stardust City and its glorious palace. Kala Chana-Cicer-Lincoln died in childbirth of their son, and first Duke of Mushy Pea, Loki Lincoln. In memory of his wife, Grand Duke Sativum Lincoln – Warrior King, had a shrine carved into the mountain in the centre of the island. Shortly after its completion Grand Duke Sativum Lincoln – Warrior King died at the age of 100. This memorial was later changed to include Duke Loki Lincoln’s Father and became the focal point of the Palace of the Stardust City.

During the construction of The Palace of The Stardust City, around 650BC, the Butter Beanese now known as The Romani Empire had established their new homeland in the far west, later to be known as Calumnius. At this point Emperor Heimdall Lunatus was on his deathbed with an unknown disease of the times, later to be discovered as Leuty Sclerosis. Between the years of 647BC - 630BC the population of the Romani Empire was slowly reduced in numbers as more and more cases of Leuty Sclerosis cropped up across the nation, with the last death being the current ruler Emperor Heroticus son of Heimdall Lunatus, who had enclosed himself in his tomb built by the slaves of the land. It is believed the disease died with the Romani Empire. This area was later populated by the now massive nation of Calumnius.

The Unity of Two Nations

In 1000AD, Grand Duke Jörmungandr Lincoln saw it an imperative to expand the nations land and set a ‘quest’ for some worthy adventurers to find a suitable area for the Mushy Peans to annex for their own personal development into the new age. One such explorer was Snorri Sturluson, who not only found a new land for the taking, but also tricked the people into moving from the lands with tales of ‘magic’ that would take their lives if they remained there. Their Shaman believed in such mysticism and uprooted the colony moving them far south, south, east where they soon became hermits living in the deserts of Nintenduu 64. With this now ‘free’ land Snorri Sturluson returned to The Stardust City with good tidings and was given the title of Emir. To this day, citizens still celebrate the expansion of Mushy Pea on the 11th Setunim, and this day is know as the ‘Emir Lies Day’, all citizens lie to each other for the day without consequence, unless the law is involved.

The Great Fire of 1600

During the reign of Grand Duke Fenrir Lincoln, there was an attempt on his life were the Palace of The Stardust City was set a pyre and many of the records were sadly destroyed. Sections of the library that were saved from the blaze are as follows; ‘Early History’, ‘Romani Empire’, ‘The Celebrated Unity of Nations’, ‘The Unsigned Peace Treaty’, ‘Trading Standards’, and finally ‘Sativum Lincoln – Warrior King’.

Although many Mushy Pean-civilians were lost in this great fire, the bodies were all accounted for, and the people soon moved on with the restoration of the grand city. This time it was to built to surpass all that had come before it. It is sometimes questioned where this order of revitalization came from as Grand Duke Fenrir Lincoln had gone missing soon after the attempt on his life, and his body was not accounted for until the late 1850’s in a small town to the south of Mushy Pea’s mainland, close to the borders of Dhatsun.

The nation continued to live life in prosper without the monarchs, until a government was set up soon after the construction of a new city on the mainland started in 1689, and the revitalization project of the island grinded to a halt.

Return of the Monarchs 1850

During the many years of the psychotic and corrupt dictatorship that followed the loss of the monarchy the nation headed in a downward spiral of despair, when all civilians rights were revoked, voting was outlawed, protestors were shot dead on the streets of Mushy Pea, and large-scale deforestation began.

A resistance group known as ‘The White Totoro Party’ were the main faction in fighting this tiring regime by setting out a hunt to find any of the remaining bloodline to rule over the nation again as a loophole was found that the nation was still technically an absolute monarchy, just minus the monarch.

Enter Grand Duchess Hel Lincoln, who was found and proven to be the distant Granddaughter of the late Grand Duke Fenrir Lincoln, who had apparently settled down in the small town of Corbetta and started a new life there.

The new Monarch did not hesitate to renew the restoration of the once grand Stardust City and a holiday is dedicated to her on the 6th Orfa, in which all the citizens of Mushy Pea have their days wage tripled for that days work, (tax is also tripled for the wealthy).

Politics

To this day Mushy Pea is ruled as an absolute monarchy, and is working towards a safer, more economical and environmentally stunning nation. Its current ruler The Grand Duchess Tsaritsa Roux is situated in the Inner Sanctum of the island known as the Palace of The Stardust City. The Grand Duchess rarely leaves the Palace, unless there is a meeting of The Nations of The Spectrum, or when travelling to The Sparkly Island of Bunnies for a meeting with the market's members. Even in these circumstances, she is heavily watched over by her guardians. On the mainland of Mushy Pea, a second capital has been developed and is known as the City of Laputa. The government is sited here and the government first sees to all proceedings before the Grand Duchess makes the final decision. As The Grand Duchess finalises all proceedings, political freedom for citizens was deemed unnecessary and outlawed, however recently the political rights of citizens seem to have increased. Civil Rights are on the increase though after a long struggle with the corrupt government’s ideals.

The Good Guys

On Orfa 26th, Mushy Pea left The Good Guys, claiming the membership was not exclusive enough. Although they parted ways somewhat acrimoniously, Mushy Pea has kept The Sparkly Island of Bunnies open to several allies on The Spectrum.

The Good Guys Elite

In the later days of Orfa, a new alliance was proposed between Oldham Road and Mushy Pea, after much planning the members were chosen and thus formed this new alliance which then came to be known as The Good Guys Elite. More on this topic can be found at The Good Guys

‘Purification and Reconstruction’ Scheme

After an administrative error saw I Know Better Than You annihilate the island of Ti Amero, the Mushy Pean government initiated the ‘Purification and Reconstruction’ Scheme.

This aspect was once a multi-million Ghibli project to rid the island of Ti Amero of all disease and majority of the populace (with help from the evacuation attempt by the Sabratese) and begin the genesis of a new Ti Amerian environment.
