Global description

The Empire of Oliverry is a very large, safe nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 120 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 64%, and even higher for the wealthy. A robust private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Woodchip Exports and Trout Farming.

All writing must pass a censorship board before being allowed on the shelves, government officials frequently cut taxes as a distraction from antics with their secretaries, government-run brothels can be found on every street corner, and a ban on unsolicited cold calling in all forms is in effect. Crime is totally unknown. Oliverry's national animal is the cow, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the oliver dollar.

History

The history of Oliverry can be divided in 6 parts: Ancient times(up to 1451 AD), The First Kingdom(1451-1801), the First Empire(1801-1899), the Second Kingdom(1899-1931), the Republic(1931-2003) and the Great changes time(2003-)

Ancient times

In old times, many Europeans came to Oliverry's today's land to trade with the inhabitants of the time: the Limbrogidlians. Those Limbrogidlians were ruling on a territory that is 4 times Oliverry. But, in 1347, when Europeans started to establish colonies all around their empire, the Limbrogidlians were going back to the 3 provinces called today "East Limbrogidlia", "West Limbrogidlia" and "Limbrgidlia Francophone". In 1400, they formed a new kingdom: The Limbrogidlian Kingdom. But there were tensions in the Kingdom and, 1447, Limbrogidlia separated in the 3 provinces we know today. From 1400 to 1650, European colonists lost the trace of those Limbrogidlians.

The First Kingdom

Oliverry was founded in 1456 by a Metis(Semi-Limbrogidlian, Semi-European):John Oliver: the king Oliver I. Oliverry was the old name of Marshalliston. It was the greatest colony of all those Europeans settled. Oliver I was a good king and accepted many liberties, abolished servitude to the king and things like that. He ruled on the Kingdom from 1456 to 1500(he was 23 years-old when he came to the throne).

The First Empire

The next 10 rulers(Oliver II to Oliver X) were kings form 1500 to 1800 and nothing interesting happened. But in 1801, a new guy came to the throne, he was called Bertrand I. He wanted to be an Emperor so he changed the name of the nation to the Celestal Empire of Oliverry. The territory until that was made of only the province of Capital. By the time, Limbrogidlians shared the territory in 3 parts: the French one held the South, the Western one all the Today's Oliverrian Territory where we speak English and the Eastern one of Only the province we know today. So he declared war to the three Limbrogidlias and annexed them 1 after the other 1. So when his reign was completed, the country was like it looks now. But the nation was in bankruptcy so the next emperor, Oliver XI, the first frenchie to be leader of the nation, had to face very big problems. Western Limbrogidlia revolted in 1876 and declared his independance to Oliverry but Oliverry went destroying them and the peace was restored.

The Second Kingdom

In 1899, the paysans rebelled, decapited the Emperor Bertrand II and instaured a constitutional Monarchy. So the King was John I and the Prime Minister was Louis-Paul Dubuc. There has been 6 elections in the time. They were all won by the Conservative party except the last one(in 1929) that was won by the Democratic Party.

The Republic

In 1931, the king died so the prime minister of the time: Johann Lischwinsberg, decided to take more place on the constitution. So he became president of Oliverry and founded the republic of Oliverry. In 1986, the President: Louis Laval decided to colonize a teritory. But he didn't know which one. So he went see the Limbrogidlians to ask them where was their "Mysti land". It was the Autonom Territory of Blurnberg. He colonized it and gave them a chief to control the inhabitants. It was designed by the President for 5 years after a consultation with the population.

The Great changes time

In 2003, the Federalist party took form with, as leader, Olivier Turcotte. He said: "I will change the country by giving to the provinces more liberty and...". In 2003, he won the election. So He said: Modification of the constitution!!! President changed for a Great federator, added a Prime minister, gave to the provinces a little federator, and changed the name of the nation to the "Federation of Oliverry". But in 2004, when he won a second election, with his friend and Prime Minister Sam Gagnon, Olivier Turcotte declared the Second Empire. So he took the name of Augustus Oliverus and of Olivier I.

Geography

Oliverry is limited, at the East, by the Ocean of the Peace. At the North by The Northern Mountain Chain. At the South by the Blurn River and the West by the Limbrugidlian Free Lands.

Alliances

Olivery is part of the ADN and of the FCSTO.
