Rachel Charlene Levitt (born 2 May 1967, in Al-Bahr, Kahanistan), is a highly controversial Kahanistanian military officer and politician. She is infamous for her conduct at the Battle of Xigrat and her courtroom behavior at the resulting trial.

Early life

Rachel Levitt was born in 1967, the youngest of three children and the only daughter. She is the only member of her family to join the Imperial Marines. She was raised in a Jewish family, and attended synagogue regularly until the age of 14, when she began attending the Kahanistan Military Academy. Before then, she was a typical child until the age of 9, when she began associating with older gang members, losing her virginity to one at the age of 12. (The gang member in question was 19.) The rebellious teenager signed up at the military academy soon afterwards, and stopped attending synagogue altogether at age 16.

Military career

At age 14, Levitt began to attend Kahanistan Military Academy. She graduated in 1989, at age 22, near the bottom of her class, despite her roughly average grades, due to her distrust, if not outright defiance, of authority. As a result, despite the fact that she was an officer, she was viewed as expendable. She was routinely assigned to dangerous missions until 1997. By then a major, Levitt was assigned to destroy a Fascian weapons depot, at great risk. After barely surviving the mission, she met and became friends with a Republic Guard officer, Captain Nadia Sklenova. Sklenova and Levitt arrived at the conclusion that Levitt's superiors were trying to dispose of her, using her as cannon fodder. Together, the two officers won a conviction against the officer who admitted to trying to rid the Imperial Marines of Levitt.

In 2005, at the Battle of Xigrat, Levitt commanded a convoy intended to trade nuclear weapons to Xirnium for Xirniumite citizens, who were to be granted asylum in Kahanistan. Impatient with the delays foisted upon her by the Xirniumite frontier police, she shot and killed Second Lieutenant George Tate, a Xirniumite officer. This action led to the Battle of Xigrat and Levitt's court-martial, at which she was cleared, but held in contempt of court for her appearance and behavior. (She had dressed in a cleavage-baring mini-dress. Some say this led to her acquittal, though her supporters deny this.)

At this point, Colonel Levitt was promoted to Brigadier General, the rank she presently holds. She would later fight on Xirnium's side in the Kraven War, and pose as a Kraven Capitol Police Reichsmarshal during the Freekish invasion of Kahanistan. A photograph of the attractive, petite woman in Capitol Police armor appeared in Army Boy magazine, a popular publication in many armed forces, printed in Kahanistan.

Levitt's image improved somewhat when she spoke out in opposition to Amestrian actions in Torontia. However, her reputation flagged again when she brought the infamous hate tract, On the Amestrians and their Lies, with her. Sara Liscel, a delegate of Amestria, was outraged by the general bringing a hate-filled tract. Levitt claims she was unaware of the depravity of the book, and was looking for evidence of Amestrian wrongdoing in Torontia.

Personal life

Levitt is one of the most controversial officers in the Imperial Marines. Her allies see her as a great commander, diplomat, and politician, and her enemies see her as a common thug and killer. She is openly bisexual, and very liberal with her sexuality. She is single and has no children as of August 2006.

Quotes

"It's merely a shame they all couldn't be here..." - to Sara Liscel, on the Torontians executed by the Amestrian Occupational Authority living to see their nation become free.
"I can assure you no war crimes will take place under my watch." - to the Xirniumite Government, on Torontia.
