The People's Republic of Sovetskaya Shvetsiya (Soviet Sweden; Swedish: Sovjet-Sverige) was founded following a successful Soviet invasion of Sweden in 1944. In 2007, the capital was moved from Stockholm to Malmö in the south, in order to create a Socialist competition to the nearby Danish capital, Copenhagen. With a population of 35 million, Stockholm however remains the largest city in the nation.

Sovetskaya Shvetsiya is a member of the United Nations.

History

Following the Nazi invasions of Denmark and Norway during The Great Patriotic War, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin was concerned about a possible "Scandinavian frontline" aiding the war against the Soviet Union in case Sweden would fall to the Nazis. Taking advantage of the Lapland War, Stalin invaded Finland and Sweden, contributing significantly to the liberation by Allied forces of the occupied Scandinavian countries.

Although Finland became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991, Sweden decided to remain in the Union.

Recent history

Sovetskaya Shvetsiya was recently ranked #1 in Most Income Equality in Scandinavia. This standard has dropped in recent months, however. Tax cuts endorsed by the exile government, led by the de facto Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, could be a factor.

President Memisov recently signed an alliance with The People's Socialist Republic of Skeppsdal.
