History Syrupiat began existence as an experiment in corporate freedom. The Syrupian Automobile Corporation bought a large parcel of land and transferred all its employees and assets immediately. Forming a government was simple, as the interests of S.A.C.and Syrupiat were identical.

The problem came when a well-meaning CEO allowed the continued existence of its employees' labor union. In a democratic country, a labor union is simply a way to protect employees' rights. In a corporate state, a union is the same as an opposition party. Led by the outspoken and charismatic Christa DeRonda, the Syrupiat chapter of Automotive Workers International went from being a sop to the employees to a thorn in the government's side.

One concession after another was granted the union, and soon membership was compulsory for all non-management employees. At this point, it became obvious that the balance of power had shifted. The union, now eleven million people strong, staged a series of protests, starting with a general strike. In the space of two weeks, the entire corporate board of the S.A.C. was replaced by high ranking members of the union. And that's where things really went wrong.

As its first act, the newly organized government of Syrupiat disbanded its labor union. It then declared martial law and revoked the citizenship of any non-management employee. President and CEO DeRonda's title was offically changed to Supreme Dictatora for Life and her informal advisory panel was made formal and permanent. Syrupiat has remained an oppressive dictatorship since then.

Soon after the revolution in Syrupiat, a crisis broke out in the communist nation of Andei. A captialist revolution had begun to spread, and Syrupiat wasted no time to send aid. In a few short days, its massive armies had freed the rebels from Kasr Partan, thier blockaded redoubt, and was marching on the capital city of Cadrian. In a stunning turn of events, however, the Syrupiat army was trapped in the foothills just outside the city. Undersupplied and on the brink of starvation, the troops were rescued at the last moment by members of the Andei Liberation Army (ALA).

Infuriated and disgraced by the near-defeat, the politicians in Syrupiat City called for the head of the strike forces' leader, Forrest Tierney, and began preparations for the execution of the whole 300,000 member force. Tierney and his troops, therefore, request asylum in Andei. With that, the Eight Day War was over. In the aftermath, Tierney accepted a Cabinet position in the newly formed capitalist Andesian government.

Soon afterwards, with land given them by the Andesian government, the exiles from Syrupiat formed the Free Land of North Syrupiat. This nation was founded on opposite principles from those of thier motherland: justice, equality and freedom. The two nations, Syrupiat and North Syrupiat have remained bitter enemies to this day.

Culture Syrupiat is made up of two social classes: Government, and everyone else. Government "citizens" recieve the best of everything that Syrupiat has to offer. Everyone else gets 14 hour work days, poor living conditions and minimal health care.

There is little to no native culture in Syrupiat as almost all free time is spent either: Government: enjoying themselves. Slaves: Working.
