Trodenhiem

History

</div>Trodenhiem was founded by Julian I in circa 5000 B.C. Juilian was the head of a large nomadic people called the Trodden, with his people they settled in the central plains of the Troden Continent in what is now the Federation of Allied Nations, the settled a village called Capita, later to become the Trodonian Capital. Initially they lived in clans and villages, however as threats from neighbouring tribes increased, they were forced to fortify, thus the traditional walled towns began. Initial these walled towns were little more than tribal settlements surrounded by pallisade walls, however by 350 B.C. thier culture was so well developed that they followed a traditional Greek architecture, and had constructed large stone fortifications around towns and cities of stone and mortar. This lead to the Trodonian Classical Golden Age, an age where the Trodden people flourished, thier architecture became known across the world, sharing similarities to both Greek and Roman work. They constructed merchant fleets and thier military traditions of armoured spearmen equipped with short swords known as Palatine Phalanx Hoplites made them successful as an expansionist force.

As the population multiplied it became apparent that Despotism could no longer support such a large populace nor award them the respect of the other nearby civilisations, and under the rule of Titherius I the despotism became an Imperium of unified Trodonian tribes, that came to be known as Trodenhiem. The cities united under one flag and the military grew, as did thier populace. As the Golden Age progressed as did thier technology, they began to make more use of heavy cavalry and by 230 A.D. they had developed thier own equivilent to the Byzantine Cavalry, named the Palatine Pranoi Aligon. With thier expansion complete, thier economy boomed to epic proportions, they traded with everyone, and few dared to make war with them.

The Empire had flourished conquering the nearby tribes and nations, and grew in size and wealth. By 1500 A.D. Trodenhiem was established as a major power on the Trodonian Continent, famous for its mounted soldiers and technologically advance arquebusiers, thier culture was amazing, absorbing those of the nations and peoples they had conquered into thier own, and they became the hub of the civilised locale. But in 1812 A.D. the Empire declined in size, as nearby nations expanded and its Golden Age ended, however Trodenhiem was still a major power and its culture continued to grow.

In 1893 A.D. came the formation of the Federation of Allied Nations though Trodenhiem initially refused to join, however due to mounting political pressure from thier neighbours, the Emperor at the time Julian XVIII agreed to join.

The 1900s were marked as the second golden age of the Empire, and it was the first nation to develope the telephone, radios, televisions and auto-matic weapons in the Federation of Allied Nations. Thier advancements did not worry the rest of the region as Trodenhiem was not an imperialistic nation at this point, and they were soon recognised as one of the major leaders of the Federation.

In 1916 the Militocracy of North Cadia was officially recognised as the brother state of the Empire, as thier two peoples shared the common ancestry of the Cradianii Tribes, that predated the Trodden and together the two nations grew to vast proportions, both in size and economic wealth, they fought many colonial wars together, to secure thier overseas territories, and the bond between them grew great.

The 1900s progressed and so too the Trodenhiem its people enjoyed a wealth of civil freedoms, and the security of a constantly advancing military force. The income was more than enough to support the Empire's ever growing population, and the nation was chosen to lead the [[IA {FAN)]] and independant depence force, that would protect the peace and sovereignty of the nations of the Federation.

In 2005 the Emperor Silas II signed over power to Monte Guerro, who established the Commonwealth of Trodenhiem, a democratic nation with a constitutional monarchy, this was due to the growing pressures from the outside world to conform with the popular choice of government at the time. Monte Guerro was elected as the first President and under his rule Trodenhiem moved into The Serenade, and the rights of the people grew to greater proportions. Monte Guerro's popularity grew, it seemed that no-one dis-liked him, or his policies of high living standards, excellent services and peace for the time. But on the 16th of September 2006 in a sudden act of treachery Silas II siezed power, and enslaved the nation. Though he had signed over power to Monte Guerro and though Monte was immensely popular among the people, the military had come to dislike him due to his ever more peaceful attitude. Silas II took advantage of this, and commandeered the military for himself. The entire populace was placed under a strict curfew, and many were executed for no reason. Soon enough the populace were forced into manual labour, to build up the military, and provide for Silas II's expansionist dreams.

The Invasion of Cassius

In 1865 Trodenhiem engaged in a large land war with the desert Republic of Cassius. Cassius was a valuable area of land, because of its abundance in diamonds, gems and precious metals, and Trodenhiem's then Emperor Maximus Titus I saw that this land would be an excellent addition to the Trodonian Empire.

Cassius was a territory founded by a group of colonials known as the Cassiun. The Cassiun originally came from Aramatherius, but because they were forced to pay taxes to the Aramatheriun Government, without getting any government representation, they rose against Aramatherius and started the Cassiun War of Independance which lasted from 1823 until the summer of 1852.

Emperor Maximus Titus I was determined for glory and sent the Imperial 8th army to Cassius. The beach landing was quick and easy, as the Cassiun naval defences were poor. After this however they were forced to engage the enemy within a day of the landing at the battle of Anderon.

The Battle of Anderon was the one major pitched battles in the Invasion of Cassius, there are few battles in history that showed true military genius, but this was one of the them. The 8th army was horribly outnumbered at least ten to one, so the Trodonian General Petri Onolov ordered his Riflemen to take cover in the bushes and scrub on the hill on thier east flank. His cavalry were wheeled round and hidden behind the hill. The Cassiun soldiers expecting a flanking maneuver moved East, to advance on the lone cavalry unite. However has they approached the hill the Riflemen opened fire on them, three deadly vollies before they charged down and put the Cassiun Troopers to the bayonet.

Meanwhile the cavalry spun around and charged at the advancing central army, destroying the first advance wave, leaving the second wave exposed to the fire of the Royal Grenadiers and the Howitzers. The Cassiun army charged the guns, only to find thier Eastern flank totally exposed to the fire of the Riflemen.

Thousands were slaughtered, and two days later the Cassiun government handed General Onolov the official surrender.

The Colonial Era (1880-1930)

The Colonial Era of Trodenhiem was one of the Empire's bloodier periods, the then Colonially Expansionist Empire of Trodenhiem began a fierce campaign of conquest and bloodshed.

The Era is considered to have began in 1880, however some argue in began as early as 1865 with the invasion of Cassius, however that was merely a single isolated war, that established the first colony, and it took 15 years before the next colonial conquest took place with the annexation of The Valician Union. The annexation of The Valician Union was a short and bloodless one, a Trodonian backed coup took the Union government by force over night and with the support of the military they installed a colonial government.

Following this came a period of non-stop colonial agression by the Trodonian Empire until they controlled a vast overseas Empire, their continued aggression went unheeded as few wished to stand in the way fo the Emperor's plans, and few nations had the capacity to do so. The colonial era formally ended with the beginning of the Trodonian Civil War.

The Trodonian Civil War (1944-1952)

The Trodonian Civil War began in May 1944 when the Emperor Ulsis I dissappeared, no one to this day knows why he dissappeared or where he went, what is certain is that no-one ever saw him again.

The main cause of the civil war was that Lord Maxmillion Thunderhawk tried to sieze power, few supported this notion, and Thunderhawk was forced to begin an armed campaign to secure his position as the new leader of Trodenhiem. This began as he recruited thousands of ethnic Atholonians into his military forces and managed to gain the support of a couple of batallions of the former Emperor's troops. His campaign was long and bloody, his ranks swelling with every victory as more soldiers joined him and more citizens were violently pressganged into his militia.

The Civil war ended in 1952, when Titherius II returned, and lead the loyalist army to victory against Thunderhawk at the battle of Kergen. Kergen was the deathblow to Thunderhawk's campaign, but though he fled to the border regions of the Empire, his forces continued to fight. However without Thunderhawk's leadership they were unable to keep control of the militia, who eventually turned against them. The Civil war ended in September 1952, when militia forces at the last stronghold of Thunderhawk's loyal troops, was defeated from the inside by the militia there, just as Titherius II brought his artillary against the walls. The militia were rewarded and disbanded, each given a small amount of land to farm or sell.

The Thunderhawk Uprising (1956-1957)

This was Thunderhawk's second bid for power, however was soon supressed by Emperor Kruschev and Titherius II. The Uprising began in August 1956, the Civil War had left the Empire weakened economically, militarily and politically. Its neighbours looked at it with interest and began to covertly attempt to seize border areas by creating insurgency and upheavakl there. Thunderhawk used this to his advantage and formed up a well trained militia force and began to gain the support of the citizens fo the border areas that were troubled by these foreign excursions.

By October Thunderhawk had gained enough support to attempt a coup, however things did not go according to plan. Thunderhawk's militia came under attack as the approached Geddon, not from Trodonian soldiers, but from North cadian forces lead by Emperor Kruschev. The force was soon forced to retreat amidst heavy losses and Thunderhawk himself fell to a sniper's bullet. His militia were then disbanded by the North Cadian troops who resecured the outlying areas of the Empire, and by February 1957 the last of Thunderhawk's militia had been defeated.

The Shortlived Democracy

In 1978 Monte Guerro was given control of the Empire by Silas II who agreed to grant democratic rule to the people of Trodenhiem. Guerro agreed to form an interim government and form a democratic constitution. This done erlections were held in which Guerro stormed to victory and proceeded to ruled. His policies were such that the Empire was rebuilt, and returned to a point of supremacy economically and militarily.

The First Trodoneo-Cadian War(1986)

In January 1986 Silas II seized power in a military coup, the reason is still not known. Silas II enforced an oppressive regime and enslaved millions. All to support the massive war machine he was building. The Emperor's enslavement of his nation did not go unnoticed and Conrad Kruschev, Emperor of North Cadia and the Kruschevan Empire, lead his nations to war with Trodenhiem. Summary of the War

January

Silas II siezes power from Monte Guerro, and starts a brutal coup and enforces a strict curfew on pain of death, more than 100,000 civilians are murdered in one of Trodenhiem's bloodiest massacres since the founding of Imperial Trodenhiem.

September 17th

The populace are enslaved and forced into uninhabitted areas where they are to build work camps and factories. Over 3,000,000 people die in the process, from starvation, the cruelty of thier guards or by the murderous insanity of the Emperor.

September 25th

Following a heated discussion in the North Cadian cabinet room Conrad Kruschev orders his forces be mobilised and sends a message to Silas II telling him to free his people, or face war. The logistics are prepared and supplies are ready for a swift win.

September 26th

[[[Silas II]] refuses to return power to Monte Guerro and mobilises his own heavily demoralised, and poorly supplied troops. Trodonian troops start to die from malnourishment, starvation and disease, but still the Emperor insists on war.

September 27th

Conrad Kruschev formally declares war and deployment is ordered. The navy is deployed to blockade Trodenhiem's ports, and 100 ICBMs are fired at the military stronghold of Schwelsburg in Trodenhiem, Silas II orders for his own missles to be launched, however the military administrative branch is poorly organised to run an entire country, as well as the military and the orders are lost.

September 28th

The missles hit Schwelsburg, and the city is left in ruins, almost the entire garrison there is slain, the soldiers that weren't, were routing to the nearby woods. The coastal defences come into action firing inneffectively at the North Cadia fleet, and the naval bombardment destroys the defences, leaving the officers firing smallarms at the approaching ships while thier soldiers rout in fear of the Cadian troops.

This is the day of the fateful Schwelsburg march, 20,000 Imperial troops are marched from Capital City to Schwelsburg, more than 5000 never make it, dying of starvation, or in combat on the way. They were unarmed and forced to surrender when they reached Schwelsburg, they had expected to get weapons once they reached the city. Only 3550 of the soldiers survived the ordeal, and these were honourably discharged upon the disarmament of the Imperial Military by North Cadia.

September 29th

The North Cadian forces land on the now undefended Trodonian coast, and begin to offload thier supplies. Food aid was distributed to the freed slaves in the area, and forward troops took schwelsburg and captured the remaining forces there, and set it up as a Forward HQ. Yet more missles were fired by the North Cadians this time at the Trodonian Capital, Troden City, all 300 hit and the city is all but destroyed.

October 1st

Troden City is entered by North Cadia's troops and a TV camera crew follow thier progress as they search for survivors, there is only one, the Emperor, who is found scrambling through the ash. He is immediately executed in front of over three trillion viewers. The leading military officials of Trodenhiem are found dead, either murdered by thier men or having committed suicide, this day is remembered as Blude De tey Mortez de Noicht (Cadian for "Night of Blood of the Dead"). Monte Guerro is restored to power, and annexes the majority of Trodonian land holdings, to the North Cadian government, who split the land in two. The East goes to the Kruschevan Empire (The nation that Conrad Kruschev built himself), while the West goes to the North Cadian Trading Company. Monte Guerro is escorted by the few remaining loyal FDN and IA troops, to Trodenhiem's remaining land in the Federation of Allied Nations, where he formally re-established the land as Federal Trodenhiem, a democratic republic.

Federal Trodenhiem

Federal Trodenhiem was founded following Silas II's defeat during the Trodoneo-Cadian War.

Following the end of the war, Monte Guerro was escorted by IA and FDN soldiers back to the Federation of Allied Nations to the Trodonian holdings there. Upon his arrival he went to Geddon City and made his speech to the world, declaring the end of Trodenhiem and his founding of Federal Trodenhiem, a totally democratic state.

The next day he met with other ex-politicians from Trodenhiem to discuss the future of Federal Trodenhiem. It was at this fateful meeting that they decided to dismantle the Trodonian Union (Northern Trodenhiem, The Valician Union, Trodenhiem/Federal Trodenhiem) before finally agreeing to use the pre-First Trodoneo-Cadian War democratic system, without the Emperor.

The next day the different political parties were reformed, and began campaigning. Instantly Monte Guerro took the nation by storm, winning the hearts and minds, as he had done before. By the end of the week the votes were in, Monte Guerro had won Federal Trodenhiem's first election by a landslide majority of 86%. Federal Trodenhiem was now officially established.

</div>Federal Trodenhiem is now a totally independant state, currently ruled by President Monte Guerro, his popularity has grown massively in Federal Trodenhiem, and Trodonian Atholon, however his terms as President will always be marred by the loss of one of Trodenhiem's largest and proudest colonies, Promethius Prime.

Troubles in the Federation

Main Article: The First Fall of the Federation

Federal Trodenhiem was a beacon of hope in the now dented and vastly destroyed Federation of Allied Nations. It has maintain itself largely very well, and is the only central power remaining in the region besides Typophiles which sadly has entered an isolationist period. Monte Guerro lead the way to a new unified region, and tried to rebuild the IA, which is now severely depleted and almost defunct.

With Federal Trodenhiem located in an area of the Federation of Allied Nations now called Federal Oregon which is the last remnant of the region's true power. This is the one remaining area in which there is law order and hope among the sea of chaos that surrounds them. The fall of the major power of FAN left a region full of civil strife, racial hatred, revolution and anarchy. Warlord rove the lands and reap whatever bounty they can to hold power over as much of what is left as possible. However with the resurgence of North Cadia this era is now ended. Little is known or documented for certain during this period unfortunately, and as such little can sadly be told.

Issues in Promethius Prime

</div>Federal Trodenhiem has recently been engaged in a series of short and bloody wars for Promethius Prime, however owing to the vast forces fighting against them (See: Promethiun Rebels and The People's Army of Promethius Prime) they have been forced totally from the territory, as the Third and hopefully final Promethiun War has taken place, between the Rebels and the People's Army, and Promethius Prime has fallen into an oppressive Communist regime.

Monte Guerro has now signed a treaty with Promethius Prime and its new government however there are still concerns over Eketraine's influence over the nation.

Return to the Federation of Allied Nations

Federal Trodenhiem formally rejoined the Federation of Allied Nations, amidst civil strife within FAN. With an Iron fist they have managed to steer FAN back onto its path and has reformed a new government, however it will be some time before the Federation is returned to its former glory.

The Wars of Unification

In a series of wars the newly reformed Federal Military has invaded North Cadian and Kruschevan Trodenhiem and reclaimed the territory in a shocking and daring display of military prowess that left North Cadia's economy and reputation severely dented.

The wars began after the invasion of Imperial Trodenhiem a new governemtn scheme called the 'Soldier from Birth' Scheme had proved a massive success and an entire generatin was brought up to be soldiers, and military units as befitted their area of aptitude. The SfB program raised a group of soldiers so well trained and equipped physically and mentally, that their abilities in battles have proven themselves to be enourmous, and they are capable of far more than would be expected of a normal trooper.

It was these soldiers that allowed Federal Trodenhiem to force the surrender of North Cadia in a matter of days, and reclaim much of their old lands. The same again happened when fighting the Kruschevans and now war is on their doorstep.

Culture

Trodonian culture is rooted in their climate. In the Ancient Era Trodonian culture was very much Greek and Roman in type, they wore togas and such, and their architecture was elegant and beautiful in execution. The climate was a major feature in the developement of their culture however, and many areas of city streets even today are shaded by vast sheets, to shade the people beneath, and large aerial walkways and over street bridges are also the norm and have been since the ancient era.

Trodenhiem's modern architecture is typically very traditional, but with a modern twist.

As you can see large and airy spaces on the front of the buildings with huge windows is very much the norm in Federal Trodenhiem. Houses tend to be of a villa style, square with an open cloister in the center, however in the cities where space is scarce the apartments have a room in the centre surrounded by other rooms. Water is also a large feature in Trodonian buildings, and many have indoor ponds and pools, with elegant water decorations and fountains, waterfalls inside are also common.

Many buildings have an overhang at the front supported by collumns underwhich gardens, or benches and seating are often found, for sheltered gardens are popular and very common, owing to the dry and dusty localle.

Cloisters at either side of the road under which paths run, as well as allyways leading to cloistered parks or ponds are also common in the big cities where residents lack one inside their own home.

The People

The people of Trodenhiem are typically friendly, being a trading and farming people by nature, community spirit is strong, and everyone in a village knows everyone else, while in the city apartment blocks have an open top floor for community events, and when there's a celebration, not just friends and family are invited, but often many from miles around too.

Trodonians are a festive folk, and have many holdiays and feasts that they enjoy througout the year, including Emperor's Day and Remembrance Day. Wine is a central feature in social events and it is legal fror children as young as 10 to drink and purchase red wines that are the common palate of the Trodonian feasts and meals.

Poverty is not a major problem, with such a sense of community, any found homeless or in debt are often supported by the community and they are glad to do it.

Sports

Rock Climbing is a major event in Trodenhiem, ever since the Trodonians started climbing the local cliffs. Climbing races are watched widely on television accroos the United Republic and the current hero of the sport is Mikhael Helstron, an Atholonian born Trodonian Colonial, he hold the national and regional rock climbing records for speed, height and location.

Other sports include rugby which is the nation's second sport, and is also watched all over the country, and is played in schools across Trodenhiem. Cricket and football (soccer) are also widely enjoyed sports as well as barefist fighting and wrestling.

Genetics and Appearance

The Trodonian people are typically Greek and Latin in appearance, with a slender build and tanned skin, dark hair and eyes. They are naturally very agile and sinewy rather than muscular, due to their history of rock climbing, and are endurance rather than speedy bursts or sprinters.

They are quite intelligent and have a speciality for design and engineering, and developed early on various machines and mechanisms.

The Military

The Military of Federal Trodenhiem has recently been massively reformed by Monte Guerro, the education system entirely revolves around military progress and economic developement.

Thier military is of the maximum possible size, and comprised of a versatile and flexible chain of command, and small companies that train and operate together, this allows for them to maneuver and operate far more effectively and efficiently than most other militaries.

This has been proven by their amazing victory against a force with superior firepower and number, the army of North Cadia.
