The University of Burnaby (UB) is a large public university in Kelssek. It is consistenly rated as one of Kelssek's top three universities with strong ratings for overall quality of education, and is well-regarded for its scientific research and language programs, having one of the largest centres for the study of East Pacific languages. It is a leading research centre for physics and linguistics as well as natural sciences. It boasts Kelssek's second-largest research library.
Established by passage of the Burnaby University Act in the provincial legislature in 1890, The university's main campus is at Point Grey, and the 14.13 km² endownment lands of the university border Lakeshore Provincial Park. It has a satellite campus in downtown Burnaby, and another campus in the town of Surrey.
