</div>The Atlantic Alliance was a renowned military alliance, headquartered in the Atlantic region. Though the extent is contested, that this organization had an impact on world history is undoubted.

History

The Atlantic Alliance was launched after a successful run for delegacy by Nusseburg and Dosopan in the Atlantic region. In the coming months, the AA would invade many regions. At its height, the AA was in control of a several feeder regions (including the West Pacific) and had over a hundred member nations. NationStates was still in its infancy, invader alliances were a completely new concept, and kicking and banning had not been implemented yet. The Atlantic Alliance thrived in this hedonistic environment.

The Atlantic Alliance was one of the most well-known invader organizations of NationStates and is considered by many to have had the biggest impact on history. The battle for Iraq and subsequent departure of Nusseburg is seen as the turning point in the history of the ACC, which never recovered its early glory. Attempts to revive it by Louldamin, Pilmour, MrNonchalant and Accelsior were ultimately only temporarily successful. Shortly before the end the alliance acquired numerous enemies, including the Alliance Defense Network, the MASS Alliance, the GLA and the Freedom Alliance. During this conflict the organization was disbanded by MrNonchalant, the commander at the time.

Impact

The Atlantic Alliance will perhaps be known for its legacy in NationStates more than any other accomplishment. It was one of the first organizations to invade regions by use of UN delegates. Certainly it helped popularized this technique, and many of today's invader and defender alliances owe their existence to this beginning.

Even as the alliance waned it continued to innovate. Although there's no real way to tell, it is quite possible that military forces led by New People were the first to take over 4 regions in one night. MrNonchalant pioneered the use of data mining scripts for invasion and defensive purposes, gaining The Rejected Realms delegacy after using a script to telegram and endorse every UN nation there.

Former members of the Atlantic Alliance are spread over the NationStates world, most notably in The West Pacific, The Pacific, The Meritocracy, and the Alliance Defense Network. Member nations of the Atlantic Alliance also founded The East Pacific.

Atlantic Central Command

The Atlantic Central Command was the command and control unit of the Atlantic Alliance. At various points during the history of the Atlantic Alliance the entire organization was referred to as the Atlantic Alliance (AA) or Atlantic Central Command (ACC). This dialogue explains the distinction between the AA and the AAC:

SO Atlantic Aliance and AAC are different?Ackbar

Yes, and no. ACC is Atlantic Central Command, or the brains of the operation (eg this board). AA is Atlantic Alliance which refers to the alliance collectively. [...].MrNonchalant

Commanders

Originally the ACC had two commanders; one for internal operations (Operations Commander), and one to lead military forces on campaigns (Field Commander). However, from Louldamin onward there was only one head, Supreme Commander, a system that remained in place until December 2003 when MrNonchalant recommissioned the two-rank system in order to retire to Operations Commander and promoted New People to the rank of Field Commander.
