The Bureaucratic States Aggregated Army (BSAA) -- also known as just the Aggregated Army -- is the land-based branch of Oglethorpia's Bureaucratic States Aggregated Armed Forces. Its standing army (active duty personnel) is 2,811,000 strong, composed solely of volunteers.

The modern Aggregated Army was organized in X576 as the successor to the Oglethorpian Colonial Army after the unification of Oglethorpia.

The Executive Office collectively holds the title Commander-in-Chief (in actuality, Commanders-in-Chief) during times of war; during peacetime, mobilization of the Aggregated Army is handled by the Defense Bureau.

Purpose

The purpose of the Aggregated Army is to protect the sovreignity of the Oglethorpian nation when under attack by conventional land warfare.

Organization

The Chief Premier of the Aggregated Army serves as its representative, detailing the needs and concerns of the Aggregated Army to the Defense Bureau. In task of recruiting soldiers and maintaining the Aggregated Army as it stands is the Aggregated Army Administrative Agency (AAAA). This agency takes care of the administrative and technical issues of the Aggregated Army.

Divisions

The Aggregated Army is organized into four divisions. They are;

During wartime, the Defense Bureau has in place a more efficient division of military manpower to better coordinate troops throughout the nation.

Weapons

As with the other branches of the Bureaucratic States Aggregated Armed Forces, the Whitsall-Egadd Corporation is the sole producer of the Aggregated Army's military hardware.

Armor

The most iconic armored unit in the Aggregated Army is the 110 ton Zapner tank; an otherwise unwieldy weapon, it is a formidible foe in the hands of a well emplaced defender. Such is the case of Oglethorpia, trading speed and mobility for sheer firepower. Despite the superiority of the Zapner 5, roughly 40% of the current tank force is composed of older Zapner 4s both due to budget management, the logistics of full replacement as well as the fact that while the Zapner 5 is a superior tank, the Zapner 4 is more easily transported (keeping open the ability to move Oglethorpian armor to foreign combat theatres).

So vesatile is the Zapner body that it the Aggregated Army's low aircraft munitions system and armored troop carrier are based on it. The Whitsall-Egadd Corp. is also responsible for the numerous convoy vehicles the Army employs to maintain the constant flow of supplies.

Air

Besides relying upon the Aggregated Air Force for air support, the Aggregated Army employs the SLFP-2 for the close air support role. Its pilots practice both conventional and psychological warfare, making use of its impressive range of munitions and ability to fly close to the ground.

Troop

All foot infantry are equipped with WESM-G4 submachine guns. Explosive munitions supplied are typically the standard grenade, but in urban combat situations soldiers will be further armed with remote detonation explosive charges.

Of further note is that all Oglethorpian troops including support personnel are equipped with body armor (albeit at great expense).

Personnel breakdown

The breakdown of the standard Oglethorpian division is as follows;

  • 60% general infantry
  • 35% tank crews (composed of 5/3-man tank crews)
  • 5% support personnel

Strategic value

The Aggregated Army is the last line of defense in Oglethorpia; while it maintains readyness at all times, the security of the nation first relies upon the deterrence and defensive capability of both the Aggregated Navy and Air Force. The armies of Megalopolis City and Polyesterhampton are especially important in that they are near Oglethorpia's wide, expansive coasts should the Navy falter.

Major army bases

The Aggregated Army's three primary military divisions are all located on the mainland to protect its integrity. These bases are;
