This category contains articles about World War 3, the war that starts the events of NORTHSAGA. The nuclear War was fought between Imperial Germany, Italian Imperium, Osman Empire (Turkey), Imperial Japan, Kongo, Romania and Argentinia versus the USA, the Russian Federation (which turned into the Leninist Dynasty during the war), Great Britain, France (conquered during the war and annexed first by Italy and Germany, later by Russia), Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India and South Africa. Other countries have participated, yet their contribution was neglectable, or they were conquered soon. In the outcome, the war plunged the world into the nuclear anarchy known as Bunker Age and left the world divided into four fractions: United Continents Of America, Leninist Dynasty, Arabic Islamic Union and African Empire, altough some minor rebell fractions remained, especially in Germany, Poland (the Black Cross Organisation) and Antarctica, known as the Antarctic Coalition. Some countries, like the UK, remained relatively independant, though they all had ties with one of the major fractions (in the case of the UK, it was the UCA). Though there was a second cold war between the UCA and the LD, Japan remained neutral territory, due to the combined invasion and occupation of the Japanese islands.
