Dyelli Beybi

Dyelli Beybi's Police Force is Divided into several branches, the largest of which is the Metropolitan Police. While fairly unglamourous, compared to the Central Intelligence Division, Armed Offenders Squad or the Cheka, the "Met" are the backbone of the Police force, doing all the general policing work in the towns and cities. In villages and rural areas they are replaced by the Local Constabulary. Currently the head of the Met is Chief Constable Francis Crabtree.

The Cheif Constable for the Metropolitan Police also acts as head of the Armed Offenders Squad and the Central Intelligence Division (smaller branches of the Police Force).

Ranks and Organisation

Ranks in the Metropolitan Police are similar to all other branches of the Police Force. The top rank is that of Chief Constable, held by Francis Crabtree. Each zone is led by a Deputy Chief Constable, who is assisted by a variable number of Assistant Chief Constables (depending upon the size of the zone, eg Cyro has considerably more Assistant Chiefs than Penrose District). Below this (in descending order) are the ranks of Chief Superintendent, Superintendent, Chief Inspector, Inspector, Police Sergeant and finally Constable.

All Stations of the Metropolitan Police are Commanded by a Superintendent, a Chief Superintendent, in excess to his/her own Station is charged with overseeing nearby Stations, commanded by Superintendents. This is the main difference between the Local Constabulary. By definition, a local Constabulary Station is too small to warrant any officer more Senior than a Chief Inspector, if the Station becomes upgraded, it is immediately reclassified as Metropolitan Police.

Metropolis

The Metropolitan Police, abbreviated Metropolice, MetPol or simply MP, is both the police and the military of Metropolis. The MetPol mainly consists of the remainders of the Royal Navy Regulators and acts as a corporate police force. It is headed by a Commissioner.

Metropolice forces encountered throughout the sprawling city-state of Metropolis and territories under its rule range from purely biological soldiers called Regulators to fullout AI-controlled ultra-heavy tanks like the Peacekeeper BOLO.

Types of Metropolice forces

Regulator

  • Armament: Blaster, stun baton

Regulators are basic Metropolice soldiers. They wear a type of full-body protection armor made from a metallic material, including an helmet and a face mask, sometimes including goggles (for night vision or to protect from biochemical hazards). Under their armor, they wear overall-like uniforms in a wide range of colors. Generally, low-level Regulators wear green overalls, mid-levels wear blue ones, and red uniforms generally denote the most high-level Regulators. This coloring scheme is repeated through all infantry ranks of the Metropolice. It is also hinted that red forces of all types may have undergone severe cybernetic enhancement, though this would contradict the official Factbook of Metropolis (2007 edition), which states that Regulators are purely biological. Regulators are armed with weapons called simply Blasters, which are propably a type of raygun. These weapons seem efficient against infantry and vehicles alike, causing Panzerfaust-like impact explosions. It has been noted that the Regulators' blasters are deliberately rifle-sized, despite the fact that a pistol-sized blaster can deliver about the same payload (as seen on Commander weapons), both for cost reasons, and to scale down the efficiency of these low-loyality forces compared to that of the Commanders or other forces. Aditionally, Regulators also carry stun batons and sometimes grenades. The military value of these soldiers is generally very low, because they have received little military training for non-urban theaters, and while their armor does give them almost total protection from small arms fire and even decent protection from explosive devices such as grenades, it does not protect them from tank guns and the like while reducing their maneuverability enough to make them inefficient in roughed terrain. They are mainly used for police functions.

Striker

Striker are Metropolice shock troops. They are better trained and tougher than the Regulators, and thought for much more offensive military action than the Regulators, which are mainly used for police functions. Strikers also act as terror and anti-terror units.

Enforcer

Sweeper

Hacker

Commander

Defender

Defenders are a type of short-ranged self-propelled artillery gun that fire AP shells or case shot. As their name suggests, they are thought mainly for defense, and despite moving on caterpillar tracks, their off-road capability seems to be bad, this and their low speed making them suitable only to defend urban areas, were they can be deadly in urban warfare. Defenders are pretty small compared to MT pieces of self-propelled artillery, which makes them pretty maneuverable in urban warfare, and even makes them usable inside some structures were many enemy forces could only deploy infantry (especially as case shot missing its target won't do significant damage to a building).

Dominator

OOC Infomation

npc_metropolice is the identifier of a type of NPC (the Civil Protectionm which is also sometimes referred to as Metro Cops) in the RL computer game Half-Life 2. However, except for the Metropolice designation, the Metropolitan Police in its NationStates appearance regarding Metropolis, has not drawn inspiration from the Half-Life 2 entity. however, the Civil Protection does have some similarities to the RvneTek infantry, the RvneTek being a (OOC design-wise) predecessor to Metropolis. These similarities, however, are unintentional, as the RvneTek soldiers were inspired solely by the forces of the Seidensha corporation from the manga BLAME!.
