Introduction

The Unified Capitalizt States of Commerce Heights (deu: Vereinigte Kapitaliztische Staaten von Handelshöhen, kor: 통일된 자본가 주 상업 고도의 (Tongildoen Jabonga Ju Sangeop Nodo-ui), ell: Ενοποιημένα Κεφαλαιοκρατικά Κράτη των Υψών Εμπορίου) is a large, democratic nation, known for its unusual economy/government (what Capitalizts call capitalizm). Its population of nearly 5 billion people live on a group of islands on the eastern edge of Atlantian Oceania. Since the nation is so small, large corporations build extremely tall offices and residences, often containing more than 200 floors. Previously, very few immigrants survived for more than two months, since the public education provided by their former nations did not prepare them for Capitalizt life, but Capitalizt citizens have recently become more charitable towards immigrants. Those that do succeed are often able to become wealthy, adding to Commerce Heights’ massive GDP. Such successes include Jack Dalton, former CEO of the Unified Capitalizt States and current CEO of TechConGroup, and John Sheppard, Commander-in-Chief of the Capitalizt Defense Alliance.

Note: The word capitalizm has several meanings, distinguished in many nations by case. Capitalizm is a religion based on capitalizm, an economic system. CapitaliZm (with a capital or lowercase c) is a variant of capitalizm involving limitation of personal freedom. Capitalizts are citizens of Commerce Heights, and capitalizts are supporters of capitalizm.

Government

Overview

The Unified Capitalizt States of Commerce Heights consist of the CEO, elected by the shareholders, and his subordinates, appointed by the CEO. The government is responsible for maintaining the military (which is weaker than the Capitalizt Defense Alliance, and often requires its assistance), as well as the police force for the Capital Territory. It also oversees the states, each of which handles matters such as translation of the nation’s laws. The individual cities (with the exception of Commerce Heights in the Capital Territory) are each responsible for maintaining a police force, though most cities turn to private organizations to provide service.

States

The Unified Capitalizt States are formed by 10 states (not including the Capital Territory), five of which are primarily populated by the Manhattanite people, original creators of Commerce Heights, and five of which have been created from other nations when their governments failed, called Special Administrative Regions:

Sports

Commerce Heights actively participates in several sports, including soccer, slaniball, and bribery (the unofficial national sport). The largest Capitalizt sports organization is the Commerce Heights Footballing and Soccer Federation (CHFF), which manages domestic and international soccer and American football. The CHFF’s wide scope allows it to provide large bribes to World Cup hosts, allowing the team to perform better in the tournament. Most of the CHFF’s large income is obtained through a contract with the Commerce Heights Engineering and Technology (CHEAT) Alliance, allowing CHEAT to construct stadiums costing up to §30 billion that justify increased ticket prices. Since other organizations lack such a deal, Commerce Heights lacks a strong team in other sports, with the exception of bribery, a sport created by Capitalizts. Commerce Heights has participated in the following international events (sponsor organization in parentheses):

  • World Cups 7‒24 (CHFF)
  • Harmony Cup 3 (CHFF)
  • Baptism of Fire Tournament 15 [host only] (CHFF)
  • Slani Cup 1 (Commerce Heights Slaniball Association)
  • Bribery World Cup 1 [host] (Commerce Heights Stock Exchange)
  • Kaza 2008 Olympics (Capitalizt Olympic Committee)

In these events, Capitalizts have won the following awards:

  • Harmony Cup 3—Champion
  • World Cup 12—Third Place
  • World Cup 15—Champion
  • Bribery World Cup 1—Third Place
