To start a new topic here (not reply to an existing one), please click here. It's also helpful if you sign your name when you edit this page - use ~~~~. Also, I know about the max_questions problem. Please don't bug me about it. And I'm NOT seeking a new host for NSwiki at this time.

ES/PF Edits

207.237.104.34 made some edits to Eireann Shamrock today that looked suspiciously like vandalism, especially given that almost the same IP made edits earlier in the page history that had been reverted by various sysops. The edits involved removing a bunch of aliasing and adding an "allegedly" on one of the charges against him. I reverted to your version, but since you seem to have some experience in the matter, you should probably make sure. Thanks. → Ceo \ squawk 23:26, 30 December 2005 (GMT)

<math> tags

Is there a way that we can use TeX math tags? I created a page for Ceorana Department of State Human Development Index, and displayed some formulae, but I want it to look nice and set apart from other text, like at Wikipedia:Human Development Index. Is this just not available on NSwiki, or do I have to use different markup? Thanks. → Ceo \ squawk 02:01, 28 January 2006 (GMT)

IPA troubles

Hi there, sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get IPA fonts to display correctly. I know the obvious reason - I'm using IE - but the templates designed to bypass this don't seem to be working for me. I have tried creating my own template (Template:IPA2) which carries more up-to-date code from the current Wikipedia IPA template. I've even tried editing my monobook.css and standard.css and it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I probably wouldn't be so persistant except I'm writing a language page, and the IPA is almost all small boxes - but on Wikipedia they display perfectly. I really can't see where NSWiki and Wikipedia differ on the matter, so I'm really at a loss as to why they don't ruddy work for me here. So I'm wondering if you could help me out. I know a simple solution would be to ditch IE, but I'd rather not go through that hassle right now to be honest.

I'd fully accept a "sorry, it just doesn't work" - it would at least be closure.

Thanks for your time! --ZedderZulu 13:46, 7 February 2006 (GMT)

'max_questions' Errors

My apologies if anyone has brought this up in the past, but recently, numerous times when I try and access pages of the wiki, i get the following error. The error continues every time I try to access them for roughly 5-10 minutes, when the wiki returns to normal.

A database error has occurred Query: BEGIN Function: Database::begin Error: 1226 User 'goobergunch1' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 72000) (mysql.servage.net)

IRC

On a non-NSwiki note, your registration of #unitednations lapsed. I reregistered it, but you're on the AOP list still. #nswiki has also lapsed; I know you're aware of this. If you want, I could just reregister that too, and add you to the SOP list. Gruen2alk 03:13, 8 March 2006 (GMT)

I reregistered it, and have added you to the SOP list. ~Gruen2 12:07, 22 March 2006 (GMT)

Database error

Hey, this has already probably been asked, but I was wondering what the database error that pops up from time to time is all about. Here it is:

A database error has occurred
Query: BEGIN
Function: Database::begin
Error: 1226 User 'goobergunch1' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 72000) (mysql.servage.net)

Then there's a list of files and how many calls they're doing to the DB (I assume that what those mean, anyway. Thanks! --Dymero 06:56, 9 March 2006 (GMT)

Main Page reoganization

Hey, goobergunch. I know you're probably busy, but when you get a chance, could you take a look back at the Main Page reoganization discussion over @ Talk: Main_Page? We think we have a good new style in place, but it requires moving the disclaimer the bottom of the page. So, we want your approval before we do that. Thanks! »Dymero|t 23:50, 21 March 2006 (GMT)

NSWiki Hosting

Hey Goobergunch,

It is my understanding that you are looking for someone to host NSWiki, I might be able to work something out with you. I am on IRC most of the time, or you can send an Email to pilias.simber@gmail.com.

NSwiki locked me out

The first time it refused to mail me a new password, I remember something along the lines of "Oh well" from someone. I created a second account. After nearly a year of dissuse, I came back again. I requested a new password because, quite simply, I forget things. It refused to send me a new one. So in lieu of creating a third account, I was hoping I can get some help? 24.184.95.75 23:50, 25 April 2006 (GMT) (Fod, locked outside)

Hey Goober,

I've been pmming you the past couple days to see if I could ask you a few questions about Wiki, and about if we could use some of the help content on yours.

Could you fire me an e-mail @ my blackbird0@yahoo.com ?

Ever considered?

I'm vaguely aware of you seeking a new host for NSWiki as your current one has been uncooperative in relation to the "max_questions" error. Have you ever considered applying for a http://www.wikia.com/ MediaWiki? I'm sure they could move the database across - they did so for Wookiepedia, and that's much larger than NSWiki. You could then use a .htaccess redirect to maintain the current NSWiki URL, if you so wished. The only downside is that each page would be subject to relatively unobtrusive ads on the right hand side. The Mindset 23:34, 30 April 2006 (GMT)
