The Friendly Totalitarianism of White-Rose is a massive, environmentally stunning nation located in the The Spectrum. It's authoritarian government's aim for White-Rose is to create 'a pure people'. The national anthem is entitled Love Is A Number, the national animal is the tea-ferret and the national dish is murg chana.

Recent Events

On April 1st 2007, White-Rose announced its departure from The Good Guys. It was later revealed to be an April Fools' joke. The brains behind the idea, Foreign Secretary Nikolai Abdulov, was said to be disappointed at the lack of controversy caused by the prank.

History

White-Rose was an early member of The Spectrum, and has held the UN Delegate position for the region twice (this due to the election of Calumnius for a single day). White-Rose has had a hand in building The Spectrum up to it's current state by acting as host for several games in which political leaders are invited to, and conducting research such as the recent independant documentary hailing from the region entitled 'The Search For Calaston'. White-Rose is a member of the Spectrum Security Council and also of The Good Guys having joined soon after their creation.

Geography

White-Rose is located in the South-Central area of The Spectrum, the region being colloquially known as 'The Happy Toucan'. White-Rose makes up the 'toucan's' head, whilst it shares borders with Adoggo, Domas-Porada and Sherylannia (and also Enthalpy Change, across the Synaptic Gulf). The environment in White-Rose is known to be one of the very best in The Spectrum and most of the region is made up of beautifully scenic taiga.

Politics

White-Rose has long held a reputation of not getting involved with political matters of the region but recently caused amendment to the Representative Democracy Act 2007 by objecting to clause 2. The politics of White-Rose itself revolve around a fair political system, whilst keeping civil rights low aided by the extensive police network. White-Rose has had a struggling economy for a long time and schemes are constantly being invented to bring business back to White-Rose.

Spirituality

The main religion of White-Rose is Zedem, although there also is a significant number of Defylism followers. Vagism was created in White-Rose but was hastily banned after the goverment expressed a distaste at the morals of its practises. Sean E. Moss, the creator of Vagism and his followers were exiled to Sherylannia. Gob-jobism is also banned for similar reasons.

Religion is valued highly in White-Rose, and the region is often surveyed as one of the most religious regions in The Spectrum. Unsurprisingly, Zedem temples are widespread across the nation. Seven of these temples are said to be consecrated by the gods, and they are known as The Seven Pantheons. The Pantheons are in locations that are hard to reach and many pilgrims come to White-Rose to travel to the them. The pilgrimage is officially recognised by The Zedem Conclave, but many Zedem nonbelievers also visit the Pantheons for their historic significance and inspirational, meditative atmospheres.

Culture

White-Rose media is a large business within the nation, although compared to other regions it's size is minimal. The first programme to be produced by international collaboration is Knights of Justice (co-produced with Sherylannia). Art in White-Rose consists mainly of photography, or modern sculptings. Traditional art is viewed as simply uninteresting. A major part of White-Roseite values is respect for the dead. Large expanses of land are used as cemetaries and there is a National Respect For The Dead Day, May 28th. During this day no-one may speak except in a case of emergency, and visiting the graves of dead relatives is encouraged. Disturbing a grave or remembrance site is classed as a serious offence.

Sport

Sport is diverse and quirky within White-Rose. The main conventional sport is darts, the main leisure sport is scuba diving, and the main unconvential competition sport is ooshing. White-Rose often plays host to the IOL (International Ooshing League) annual competition. The most famous oosh route in White-Rose leads from the transport depot to the city hall in Syzygy.
