Geography
Located on the eponymous Murrindal River it is the major town of the Lower Snowy Region of Errinundera. The remote river valley is regarded as something of an outpost to people in the major population centres elsewhere but a visit soon dispels this misapprehension: Murrindal has one of the most vibrant and sophisticated town centres in the entire nation. Sitting at one of the outdoor cafes that line the river banks is one of the most charming activities imaginable.
Economy
Although nowhere near as developed as the Deddick Valley or the Lower Delegate Valley, the region around Murrindal has specialised in orchardry and boutique horticulture. Transport is a major problem, however, as Murrindal has yet to convince nearby cities to share the costs of building rail connections. Accordingly, buses and trucks must travel along dirt roads to Rodger River in the east or Gelantipy to the north.
With its reputation for quality and healthy food Murrindal leapt at the chance to open the first Santé! restaurant in Errinundera. The ethos of this Ariddian company strongly appealed to the Murries. When it transpired that the corporate colours were the same as Murrindal's civic colours the then Mayor, iparia, fast-tracked the planning application. Appropriately, Murrindal has become a twin city of Wavecrest, the home of Santé! in Ariddia.

Sacred Tree
Although neither the forest nor the individual tree specimens in the Murrindal Valley can compare with rainforests and giant trees elsewhere in Errinundera the Murries care for them as ardently as any of their countryfolk. Their Sacred Tree is a magnificent old River Peppermint named LAT located on the west bank of the river in the main town square. The name is a play on the scientific name, E. elata, and the cafe culture of the town.
News Media
For news media the city is well-served by the popular Murrindal Mail.
Note on the Flag
The flag displays a sprig of thyme on Murrindal's civic colours. The thyme represents the importance of horticulture to the Murries.
