History

During its existance, NEWI Cefn Druids has moved around the regions of NationStates. it started off in the region founded long ago by the Druidish forefathers, Cameroon Biscuits. However, the region was nearly dead when the Druids arrived, and so they soon moved to Axis of Absurdity.

It was during their first spell in the AoA that NEWI Cefn Druids started getting involved internationally, as they entered the World Cup for the first time. The Druidish team lived up to the regional reputation in being completely absurd as a football team. NEWI Cefn Druids then moved to FIFA in an unsuccessful attempt to improve the team, before returning to the AoA.

Eventually, as the dominant members of the AoA changed, so did the subjects under discussion. In the end, it all became too much for the Druidish President Trevor the Druid. He put his nation in the shop window, and the loudest call came from Atlantian Oceania. The move from AoA to AO took place just about immediately, and the Druidish Lands have stayed there ever since.

Since arriving in Atlantian Oceania, historical events have included the election of the first new Druidish President, Geraint Griffiths, the creation of an independent state of Flexsys Cefn Druids and the rise of Druida.

Indeed, the rise of Druida eventually did for NEWI Cefn Druids. President Margaret Smith of Druida beat off the Former Minister for Lost Things in hte final presidential election there after the Former Minister was found to have been behind a speight of killings. Smith united the Druidish Lands under one flag, and that was not the flag of NEWI Cefn Druids. The nation now exists only in name form.

Sport

Most things in Druidish life revolve around sport. The national sport of the nation is football, and NEWI Cefn Druids have been regular participants in the World Cup since World Cup 11. Of course, everyone needs time to get better, and it took the Druids a long time to go from laughing stocks (they finished bottom of their World Cup qualifying group for two cups running) into a well respected outfit. Indeed, since moving to Atlantian Oceania, the Druids have won four regional championships, something that they regularly did in the AoA by default.

NEWI Cefn Druids' most famous footballers have probably been Liam Gessemschmitthaagen-Po, Trevor Belmore and Bill Posters. Posters was also once incredibly infamous, as he was absurdly accused of the murder of team boss Tim Welsh. Eventually, he was cleared of any wrongdoing, but only after a long and tedious trial.

Of course, NEWI Cefn Druids has participated in many other sports in the past, with varying levels of success. They were very poor field hockey players, handball World Cup finalists and Richter Classic winners. Both of the finals in which Druidish teams appeared were against Sliponia, and on the sports field (and, once or twice, off it), the two have one of the more fierce rivalries in sport. Of course, the last time the two met in anything was in football, where the Druids won 5-1. Not that we're rubbing it in, of course...

However, all good (and bad) things must come to an end, and the Druids played their last match against Crystilakere at World Cup 19 in The Belmore Family, losing 2-0.
