Discovered in 1508, an archipelago rich islands soon became settled on by rogues and outlaws. The Allied States of Ordune were officially proclaimed in 1705. Holding off a series of invasion attempts in the 18th and 19th century, the ASO has increasingly been enjoying political safety, accounting for a flourishing economy. Ruled by the Bilox Dynasty, not much has changed in the political system since 1705. Currently, King Jacques IV. is facing several problems concerning this conservative system. The people of Ordune are known to be hard-working and obedient but very, very cynical.

History

First discovered in 1508 by the Spanish, the unpopulated islands which lie approximately 100 miles south of the United Island Empires were quickly settled on by mutineers and pirates, proving to be a haven for outlaws. In 1705, the descendants of these outlaws decided to proclaim the Allied States of Ordune. The name "Ordune" was chosen because it contains the words of the national motto Ordénam eg Unedé (Order and Unity).

Following the proclamation of the ASO, economy soon flourished due to political safety and rich mineral deposits. Until present day, diamond mining is the most lucrative business in the ASO and contributes largely to the high GDP.

Due to the rigid military system which was the result of the militarist mentality of it's initial inhabitants, the ASO have been able to repulse several invasion attempts.

During the Seven Years' War, the ASO faced their first national crisis when the British landed on the northern shores and marched on the capital city, Bilox City. After a heroic battle, the capital lay in ruins, but the British were turned away. Due to the total destruction of Bilox City, it was decided to found a new one in a strategically supreme place. The result was the founding of Ordune City in 1770 with its magnificient fortress.

In 1816, the ASO had to endure a further invasion, this time by Portugese Troops. The Portugese landed on the same shores as the British had 54 years before, but this time, the Ordunese were well prepared. After sustaining heavy losses in a merciless jungle war, the Portugese had to abandon their plans.

Since then, the ASO have enjoyed enduring peace.

The ASO have been ruled by the Bilox Dynasty since their founding in 1705. Currently, power lies in the hands of King Jacques IV. The political system in the ASO being a near-totalitarian monarchy, it is the King who appoints and dismisses ministers. There is a judicial branch, although it is strongly controlled by the government.

In an attempt to strengthen national security and economy, the ASO have lately joined the LADR and LAEC, breaking with the traditional "zero alliance course", which sealed the ASO off the international political and economical scene.

Economy

The main export goods of the ASO are mineral resources, weapons and electronics.

For more info on the economy, see NS Economy.

The Flag

The flag has several symbolic elements in it:

-The "O", standing for Ordune as well as the equatorial sun

-The green, symbolising the diamonds found in Ordunese mountains

-The black lines, symbolising the rich coal deposits

-The yellow lines, symbolising the gold deposits

The flag has been in use since 1705.

Language

Official languages in the ASO are English and Ordaném, a language which developed from the many european languages which the original settlers brought with them. It is related to Spanish and English.

Children are taught Ordaném from grade 1 on, English is obligatory from grade 4 onwards.

Currently, there is a debate about teaching english in earlier grades as well. The government is not expected to change this regulation in the years to come.

The Regions

Ordune Region

This is the region in which the Capital City is located. It consists of the larger of the two main islands of the ASO.

Due to this and the high level of education (The Region finds the nation's sole two universities), Ordunese people tend to be cocky and high nosed towards other people of the ASO.

The Ordune region is the largest region concerning landmass.

Bilox Region

The Bilox Region is a very industrialised and populated region. Even though the ASO's capital has been shifted from Bilox to Ordune long ago, the people from the Bilox region see Bilox as the "real capital" of the ASO.

Often, these hard working, "dirty" workers attack southerners at night. This stems from the old rivalry between Biloxians and Ordunese. There are many biloxian comedians and humorists who poke fun at the southerners, often in a very rude and offensive way. Jokes and Satire about Ordunese have been succesfully banned in the Ordune region.

The Bilox Region is home to the largest population.

Silent Sea Region

The Silent Sea Region consists of a large number of islands and is the main rum producer for the big city populations. Davoa, the regional capital, is famous for its safe streets (uncommon elswhere in the ASO) and its lazy inhabitants.

People of the Silent Sea Region speak the best Ordaném. Often, it is used as a norm for foreign language schools.

People from the Silent Sea Region are, in contrary to continental Ordunese, peace loving and not very well educated. This is the reason for the region being named "Silent Sea Region" (Ignoring the fact that this region is very prone to brutal and quite destructive tropical hurricanes).

Wild North Region

As its name suggests, this region is very remote from other regions. A common proverb in the ASO goes, don't tell a Northerner a joke on Friday because he will laugh in church on sunday.

Northerners are known to be a foolhardy and uncommunicative breed. This is why the national guard and many other elite military institutions consist entirely of Northerners.

Gungaya Region

The people of Gungaya are very ecstatic and emotional and are known for their wild and frolic parties. They have the highest rum consmuption in the whole country. In the ASO, the description for cheap products of bad quality are known to be gungayalevre, "gungayan liver".

Gungaya is the region with the most tourists, both national and international.

At peak holiday times, there are six to eight times more tourists on the Gungaya Islands than Gungayans. This does not bother the Gungayans, since their partying lifestyle is very contagious and because Davoan Rum has a very high percentage.

Sports

The idea of a national football team was abandoned after the first test match due to severe disruptions of the game.

It is said that the Biloxian Keeper Rumann kicked his own (Ordunese) defenders several times before the already tense atmosphere escalated into a battle between Ordunese and Biloxians.

The Keeper claims to this day that it was all accidental, but prominent video footage suggests a deliberate provocation. After the guest team was evacuated, fans broke down barriers and stormed onto the field. Until this day, the "great red charge" of Biloxians into the meek but equally determined mass of green Ordunese is part of Grandfather stories .

Often, children attempt to recreate this great scene in their free time. This is also said to be a reason for the militant attitude of Biloxians and Ordunese alike.

Today, each region sports a team in the national league, although football has been abolished. The current sport of Kerrzanemm embodies militarism and brutality alike and is popular in all parts of the population.

Its sophisticated rules are thought to be too holy to explain to foreigners. They are too chaotic anyways. This is why Kerrzanemm is not played elswhere in the world.

The season's final match between Ordune and Bilox is a popular tourist attraction and is carried out either in Ordune City or Bilox City, depending on the amount of money each club can offer corrupt officials.
