The Spectrum was founded shortly after 17:00 on May 12th 2006. Its original purpose was to showcase the difference, or spectrum, between members I Know Better Than You and Calumnius. However, its purpose has since expanded. The Spectrum initially experienced fast growth before slowing down for a period of time. Recently however, growth has increased, although now it is showing signs of slowing down once again. The Spectrum's politics are generally anarchistic although a defacto democracy exists surrounding the UN delegate. There are few laws - although some members are trying to change that. The Spectrum has it's own regional anthem entitled 'Panic in The Spectrum', but this is overdue for a remake to include more recent members.

Spectrum Security Act 2006

Sometimes also known as the Spectrum Privacy Act. The act was authored by many people in the Spectrum's early years but was recodified by Calumnius. The act requires nations to declare their identity to the Spectrum founder or delegate to ensure Spectrum security. It also allows nation to retain a degree of anonymity. This second aspect of the act has caused much controversy especially amongst third generation Spectrites. Founder and delegate disagreements have also occured when one knows an identity and the other does not. This may mean a new amendment to allow for both the delegate and founder to know is required.

Representative Democracy Act 2007

Written by Calumnius, this act aims to pave the way for more democracy within The Spectrum. Originally the act never gained majority and could not be passed. Since it's recent revision, the act is now in place and states that nations must name another nation who will vote for them if they are unavailable during a vote to pass a resolution. This information is to be kept in a list. As of yet, no nations have named their representatives.

Single Nation Act 2007

Written by Sabrateur, this act states that each player with a nation in The Spectrum must only have one nation within The Spectrum. Any that have multiple will be forced to either delete them or remove them from The Spectrum. This act does not affect a nation player's right to anonymity.

Games

The Spectrum runs several inter-regional games and competitions from time to time, the most prominent of these being Werewolf/Mafia games.

Werewolf/Mafia

There have been several games of Werewolf played within The Spectrum, the first being in September 2006.

  • Werewolf: (untitled) hosted by Calumnius. Winner(s):Buttery Boonswoggles, Mushy Pea
  • Werewolf: The Common Room hosted by White-Rose. Winner(s):Buttery Boonswoggles, Oldham Road, Sherylannia, Undracor

Others

In 2006, eight nations took part in The Spectrum Cup, a competition between the region's best football teams. The final was won by Dhatsun with Nintenduu 64 taking second place. There have been rumours of a similar competition to be held in 2007, now that The Spectrum has many more members.
