.450 Phoenix
The ".450 Phoenix" (aka ".45 Caliber Rifle" aka "11mm".) was developed by Phoenix Dynamix in late 2003 for the AR-22 Series of High Powered Weapons. Today, many other military and civilian firearms utilize the .450 Phoenix and it is the standard round for a number of nations' militaries. There are both brass cased, and caseless cartridges available.
At 11.45X75mm, the .450 Phoenix is slightly longer, thinner and much "sharper" than the .450 Ackley Magnum ( the only other known true .450 round)offering accurate, long range fire while retaining impressive close-range knockdown power. The .450 has also been able to replace the cumbersome .50 BMG round in a variety of machine guns.
Popular bullet types for this round include include incendiary, hollow point, full metal jacket and teflon coated armor piercing, but training, explosive, low-velocity, soft-point and rubber bullets also exist.
