The First Winter Olympics, officially the I Olympic Winter Games (Noterelenda: Jemes Iúïnires Olimpikires Onetes) will precede the First Summer Olympics, and are being held in Aeropag, Commerce Heights. At present, forty nations are currently taking part in a total of eighty-seven events.

Host selection process

Both Aeropag and Bloco’yce City, Raging Penguins were chosen unanimously by the Olympic Upper Council as candidate cities for the Games out of a field of eight applicants, and Marshalliston, Oliverry and Ungava, Domnonia were also selected as candidates. Aeropag was announced as host by a representative of the Krytenian National Olympic Committee on September 23, 87 CE, having received a majority of votes.

The Games will be broadcast by media entities in a number of nations;

The Capitalizt Olympic Committee is currently seeking arrangements with other media companies.

Highlights

Day 1

  • Andrew Simari of Krytenia set an Olympic record in the first competition of the event, the first heat of the men's short track 1000 metre qualifying. Simari's time of 1:28.418 lasted until the end of the qualifying; a further 15 athletes qualified for the following day's semi final. [1]
  • The host nation Commerce Heights went down 3–4 to The Resurgent Dream in the opening match of the men's ice hockey tournament. [2]
  • The Anastasianian delegation was delayed due to a misunderstanding with the communications committee. [3]
  • Boudra-Boudra and Commerce Heights run away from the pack in the biathlon relay, finishing over three minutes ahead of the bronze medal team. Oswaldo Sdar of Boudra-Boudra beat Larry Kaplan in the finish sprint to win by four seconds [4], while Anastasiania took the bronze. [5]
  • Athletes from The Resurgent Dream clinched first and fifth place in the women's figure skating short program. [6]

Day 2

  • Paperwork problems caused more delayed competitions, as Chicanada's snowboard cross athletes had to race an extra qualification run [7]
  • Zertunia dominated the two alpine skiing events by securing four of the six available top-three places:
    • Kenbor Tan and Canban Sanom made it a 1-2 for Zertunia in the men's slalom, but there were nine athletes within half a second of the leader. However, another run had to be completed before the medals were awarded. [8]
    • In the Super-G, the first medal event for the alpine skiers, Sanom struck gold and finished 0.09 seconds ahead of silver medallist Béroto Théalin of Antrium. Kenbor Tan takes the bronze. [9]
  • The first round of women's curling qualification was completed: The team from Maineiacs, skipped by Sally Gore, recorded the largest margin of victory, beating Malabra by 9–5. [10]

Day 3

  • Friar Michael the Classicist of the Archregimancy won the 15 km classical event, while Kristjan Slobodan secured the second medal for Crna Gora Liv Eng - crossing the line 0.1 seconds ahead of Boudra-Boudra's Gunther Orkt. The two-hour rendition of the national anthem of the Archregimancy sees everyone vanish. [11]]
  • The first round of men's curling is completed. Biggest win: Spaam (Eva) beat Boudra–Boudra (Peterson) 9–5. In round two games, three teams maintained a perfect record; Dorian & Sonya, Malabra and Pacitalia.
  • In the women's games, Domnonia were the only team to reach two wins from two with a 9–7 win over New Montreal States.
  • Crna Gora Liv Eng won their first medal of the games, clinching the women's cross country skiing relay by a 13-second margin after they pulled away on the last climb.
  • Bazalonian Olympic record holder Luke MacDonald pipped Andrew Simari, the former record holder, for the last place in the final on the men's 1000 m short track speed skating.

Day 4

  • Boudra-Boudra won their second gold medal of the games, with Zsamanda Moscardelli-Kobylarczyk defiling to victory in the biathlon relay. The Kazoo Peoples won silver, 54 seconds behind.
  • The first round of both the men's and women's ice hockey group stages is completed; for the men, Jonquiere-Tadoussac recorded the biggest win with 4–1 over Domnonia, while Stevid and Chicanada both win 4–2 for the women.
  • Spruitland became the second women's curling team to make it two from two after beating Krytenia 6–5.
  • Liverpool England beats The Resurgent Dream 2–1 in the second round's top fight of men's ice hockey pool A.
  • Four nations took part in the individual Gundersen combined event; in the first round of ski jumping, Antrium's Īoràn Brojéo took the lead ahead of two Zertunians.
  • Anastasiania qualified directly for the semi-finals of the women's team pursuit, as the only team.
  • Record snowfalls of up to two inches postpone the Games. [12]
  • An ad hoc snow angel competition was won by Sophia Daniels. [13]

Day 5

  • Boudra-Boudra continued their success in biathlon, winning their third gold in this event. Oswaldo Sdar is 14 seconds ahead of Anastasiania's Arvi Laine in the men's mass start.
  • Ceorana's women curling team lost 5–9 to Qazox, leaving the latter top and the former bottom of pool C.
  • Maineiacs' men's ice hockey team tied their second game in a row, 3–3 with Ropa–Topia.
  • Roland Ouellet of Jonquiere-Tadoussac set a track record in the men's luge and advanced to second place in the overall standings, behind Reynaldo Funés of Kelse.
  • Anastasiania and Pacitalia were forced to go into qualifying in the men's team pursuit.
  • Krytenia occupied the top two places on the ice dance standings, with Christian Preisser and Michaela Gramanova taking a two-point lead over the chasing pack after the compulsory dace.
  • Magnus Valerius' Kristina Bezhushtin set the best time both for the blue and red course in the parallel giant slalom qualification, and won by nearly two seconds. She also won the first elimination round to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Day 6

  • Eveline Schnütz won Boudra-Boudra's fourth biathlon gold of the Games with 22:27.7 in the women's sprint; over a minute ahead of bronze medallist 임승화 (Im Seung-hwa) of Commerce Heights.
  • In the men's curling, Jonquiere-Tadoussac and Liverpool England joined the teams with perfect records.
  • Hector Zariņš' team from Boudra-Boudra took the lead in four-man bobsled after the first run.
  • Pacitalia shut out Cantr for a 5–0 win in men's ice hockey. In pool D, Jonquiere-Tadoussac eked out a 3–2 win to stay unbeaten.
  • After the first round of ski jumping, Anastasiania had two athletes on top of the standings in the women's combined Gundersen event.
  • 3.2 points separated the teams from Zertunia and Antrium after the first round of the team nordic combined event.
  • Kina Forgast of Zertunia took a lead of 1.30 seconds in the first run of women's combined slalom, in which four women crash out.
  • Krytenia are eventually holders of the women's 500 m short track Olympic record; Fiona Vukova won the fifth heat in an unbeatable time of 44.040 seconds.
  • Lugers from Qazox are disqualified for marijuana use [14].
