History

Before AO : Revolution And Isolation

In the early years of the Krytenian state, there was the King (or Queen). However, the monarchy was not exactly benevolent, especially when it came to taxation and economic policy. So it was that in 1976 (Krytenian Calendar) that the Populist Movement was started by frustrated entrepeneur and political student Everton Davis. The Movement gained popularity over a number of years, and in 1981 the monarchy was overthrown in a bloodless revolution, with Davis installed as the first Chairman of Krytenia. A period of rapid economic growth followed, and in 1997 Krytenia dropped its isolationist "foreign" policy and opened interactions with its neighbours.

Atlantian Oceania : Balls And Words

Originally, it was simply in the gladiatorial feilds of sport that Krytenia first began making contact with the outside world. After an abortive attempt to replace Liverpool England in the fourteenth NS World Cup|, Krytenia entered World Cup XV. The national side then proceeded to create the Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football (AOCAF), now the most high-profile regional football tournament in the world. Politically, however, Davis preferred to keep his people sheltered from the harsh realities of the world.

It was an unfortunate misunderstanding that led to Krytenia's entry into international politics. During the second AOCAF Cup in Vilita, TV broadcaster John Nwoko made a tongue-in-cheek remark about the jerseys worn by the team from neighbouring Xile. These remarks were not taken in good heart by Xilean leader Adonis Lauir, and a price was put on Nwoko's head. Nwoko was then beaten up by Xilean fans in a bar in Yeaddin, Vilita, before being assassinated while recouperating at home by a Xilean man working in Krytenia.

Davis did not take kindly for this. Nor did Aron Lavinsky, President of Krytenia's northern neighbours, Abattoir. A joint airstrike on the Presidential Palace in the Xilean capital, New Babylonia, followed, though the aftermath saw both Davis and Lavinsky talking of restoring peace. A summit was set up in the former Wapahkoneta, where Lauir shot dead the leaders of both Abattoir and Krytenia.

Exile : FIFA And Fatwah

With Davis dead, Lauir then executed Phase Two of the Xilean plan. Bombing the Olympic Complex in Avid-Diord. In the middle of the Aolympic Games. It was the first time an aggressive act had ever taken place on Krytenian soil, but with the Xilean armed forces far greater, and no oficial leader, the Krytenians were in panic. Samuel Warzycha, interim Chairman, decreed a mass evacuation of the country, and within hours, naval and merchant ships were carrying millions of Krytenian citizens eastward, to the region of FIFA. There, they settled for a short time on a large island south of Rejistania.
