The Good Guys 2: The Rise of S.A.T.O is an action film in The Spectrum. The storyline follows the creation of a rival alliance, S.A.T.O and Oldham Road's departure. It also introduces the characters of Dhatsun, Enthalpy Change and Sabrateur. It is heavily fictionalised. To make the material easier to understand, the film is mostly played through fictional leaders of the countries. It is considered to be better than it's predecessor by most Good Guy nations.

A sequel, The Good Guys 3: The Shadow Threat has already been approved, thanks to overwhelming internet hype of the first film. The trilogy is being filmed back to back, with a release date for the final film being 4/5/09.

Trailer

The Good Guys are shown inducting Mushy Pea into the alliance through a grand ceremony. We see that everyone is smiling, and it is a happy day. A shadow grows over the procession. A large helicopter lands, and four menacing looking people step out. One of them is shown to be Calumnius. They converse with Oldham Road, and after the talks lead to a less than suitable ending, a battle ensues. Guns are fired, and swords are drawn. The assailants flee from the scene after ruining the ceremony.

Sherylannia gets an entire research team on finding the attackers, whilst Oldham Road is shown searching the Spectrum for any trace. Oldham Road notices one of the attackers entering a building in Enthalpy Change, and follows him. Sherylannia and his team of workers are closing in on the identity of the attackers. Oldham Road is peering through the door, and Sherylannia utters a single word... and Oldham Road is caught.

Oldham Road is arguing with the Good Guys, and decides that this isn't for him anymore. Shocked faces are shown on everyone, and Sherylannia punches him in the face.

Operatic music builds up to a crescendo, as images are shown. Don Flanioso is holding onto Red Rose Movement, who is falling off a building. Domas-Porada is shown being flung against a wall, as an unnamed man draws closer. Daveanoyl Chloride and Mushy Pea are trapped in an ever shrinking cage. Sherylannia and White-Rose are having a fight with Oldham Road and an unknown adversary. Mushy Pea is shown leaving a grand entrance hall, followed by Buttery Boonswoggles, as Sherylannia is shown looking flabbergasted. The music stops. Finally, a man is knelt down in front of another, and the words "Welcome to the S.A.T.O ranks... Oldham Road!!" are uttered. The title card is shown.

Red Rose Movement is shown slipping out of Don Flanioso's grip. The date is shown.

Plot

The film opens with a newly developed city. The words "Ediroth: Present Day" flash on screen. Mothers are shopping in a market, and people are driving in primitive vehicles. All of a sudden, gunfire is heard. A group of insurgents zoom around the corner into view in a jeep. People dressed in security outfits storm the jeep, but drop before they can get close. People begin to fall in the streets, and the rebels brake. They begin to celebrate, when they hear a shout from down the street. A bullet zooms down the street and hits one of the gunmen. The rebels have a look of fear on their faces, and we see that Oldham Road (Liam Neeson) fired the bullet. The rebels turn to flee, but the rest of the Good Guys are blocking the way. The rebels quickly surrender, and are arrested. The Good Guys celebrate, and are picked up by helicopter.

We cut to an ornate room, and see Oldham Road fiddling with his tie, trying to get himself ready. Sherylannia (Clive Owen) walks in, and Oldham Road asks for help with his tie. Sherylannia tells him to do it himself, and to hurry up, as the ceremony will be starting soon. They both leave and make their way up to the roof. They sit down next to White-Rose (Ralph Fiennes), who comments on how Red Rose Movement (Nicole Kidman) had outdone herself in the decorations. Oldham Road asks where Mushy Pea (Gwyneth Paltrow) is, and White-Rose tells him that she’s getting ready. Just as he speaks, the crowd gasps, and Mushy Pea walks towards the centre stage in full regal attire. Oldham Road, Sherylannia and White-Rose stand and make their way to the stage as well. Oldham Road begins to induct Mushy Pea into the Good Guys. Everyone is smiling, when a small canister hits the stage. Green gas billows out of it, and they all dive away, except for Sherylannia, who trips and bangs his head on the podium. A helicopter lands on the other side of the roof, and four men run out of it. They stand, staring at Oldham Road, until he tells them to name themselves. They refuse, but the smoke begins to clear and Oldham Road recognises one as Calumnius (David Tennant). He taunts Calumnius, with jibes about Ediroth, and Calumnius tells him that he isn’t the only one with friends now. The men surrounding him smirk and nod. Calumnius tells him that he will surrender Ediroth to this new alliance. He names them as S.A.T.O. Oldham Road uses a less than polite way of telling him no, and Calumnius launches at him. The rest of the Good Guys give backup, and a full fledged fight begins to happen on the roof of the Good Guys Tower. One of the men issues the orders to “bag ‘em”. They grab Mushy Pea and Don Flanioso (Johnny Depp), and jump back into the helicopter. They take off, and Sherylannia comes to. Oldham Road tells him what happened, and that they have to save their allies. Daveanoyl Chloride (Tom Welling) points out that they have no idea what nation, let alone what city they’ll be in. Oldham Road vows to search the entire Spectrum to find them. He tells Sherylannia to monitor his progress, and the others to sit tight and wait for his signal.

The screen reads “Two Weeks Later; Bunsenbury City, Enthalpy Change”. Oldham Road is shown stalking a man named Enthalpy Change (Tobey Maguire). He whispers into a communicating device in his lapel that the intelligence they received looked good, as he’d already seen Enthalpy Change taking an urgent phone call from Calumnius. He follows him into a building, and bluffs his way through security. He stalks his way down a corridor, and sidles into a room. He hears Calumnius through a door in the room and listens. The scene cuts to a high tech monitoring room, and Sherylannia is leaning over an employee’s screen. It is shown that he’s scanning the news of that day for pictures and eye-witness testimonies. He reads a certain one, and notes that it sounds vaguely familiar. He tells his employee to get the eyewitness on the phone. Oldham Road is still listening through the door, and he hears one of the attackers saying that the Good Guys “reign of terror” is over, and that the Spectrum must be freed from their tyranny. He hears that Mushy Pea is in Dhatsun, and Don Flanioso is in Enthalpy Change. He relays the information to Sherylannia, and then gets up to leave. Sherylannia acknowledges the information, and begins to listen to the eyewitnesses account. The identity of the man talking dawns on him. As Oldham Road is about to leave the room, he trips over a broom. The men jump with a start, and rush for the room. Sherylannia utters a single word. “Sabrateur”. Oldham Road gets captured.

Sherylannia calls a meeting of all remaining Good Guys. He tells them that S.A.T.O were going after Mushy Pea, because she controls the Sparkly Island of Bunnies, and then they tried to grab anyone else they could as hostages. He decides that since they have no idea where Oldham Road is, they’d be better off spending their time finding the members they do know the whereabouts of. He splits them into teams: White-Rose, Domas-Porada (Hugh Jackman), Red Rose Movement and Nintenduu 64 (Jason Biggs) looking for Don Flanioso, and Daveanoyl Chloride, seeing as he is friendly with Dhatsun (Patrick Stewart), on his own to save Mushy Pea. As this is going on, no-one notices an old janitor slip out of the room. Sherylannia says that he and Buttery Boonswoggles (Steve Coogan) will stay behind and look for any signs of Oldham Road. The teams leave for their respective missions. Meanwhile, at an undisclosed location in Sabrateur, Oldham Road is shown to be in chains. He tells Sabrateur and Calumnius that they just made the biggest mistake of their lives, and that The Good Guys will be coming soon. Sabrateur brings out a package, and he pulls out a tape recorder that the old janitor sent him. He plays it. Oldham Road begins to think that they’ve given up on him. Sabrateur tells him that he can help him get revenge. Oldham Road spits in his face and tells him to forget it. Sabrateur and Calumnius exit the room, and Oldham Road’s screams can be heard. He tells Calumnius that it’s just a matter of time before Oldham Road cracks.

Meanwhile, the team saving Don Flanioso are travelling to Enthalpy Change by jet, from the Sparkly Island of Bunnies. Domas-Porada begins to complain about the name given, and most others join in. The pilot tells them that they’ll land in Enthalpy shortly. They suit up for the mission, and then head for the building in which Don Flanioso is being kept. Sherylannia, in the control room, tells them that Don Flanioso’s being held up on the roof. White-Rose decides that Red Rose Movement should make her way up, and the rest will keep security busy. Red Rose begins to scale the building, and the rest of them storm the front doors. A fight scene ensues in the lobby, and the Good Guys are pushing them back, until a man steps out of the elevator. He names himself as Enthalpy Change, and Domas-Porada walks over to him to put him out of his misery. However, the man grabs him by the arm, and throws him against the wall. A flurry of guards enters, and starts shooting. Domas tells White-Rose and Nintenduu to make their way upstairs, because he feels that Red Rose will have too much on her hands on the roof. He says he’ll hold them back. They run out through the front doors. Meanwhile, Red Rose is still scaling the building, and climbs to the top. She sees Don Flanioso tied to a tower, and quickly unties him. However, just as they’re about to escape, Enthalpy Change appears at the top. He throws Domas to the ground in front of them. Red Rose lunges at Enthalpy and begins to fight. Don Flanioso begins to regain consciousness, and sees what’s going on. Before he can help, Enthalpy swats Red Rose over the side of the building. Don Flanioso rushes to the edge, and grabs her hand. He begins to pull her up, when Enthalpy grabs him and throws him to the side. Red Rose begins to fall. As Enthalpy turns to gloat, White-Rose, Nintenduu and Red Rose all come up over the roof. Enthalpy turns round, mouth gaping, and they explain that they caught on the way round. All three get ready to fight. Enthalpy tries to escape, but Domas and Don Flanioso are blocking the exit. A battle ensues, with Enthalpy putting up a good fight, but eventually being beaten. Domas demands the whereabouts of Oldham Road, and Enthalpy tells him that Oldham Road is in Sabrateur. They release him, and recall the helicopter. After they’re airborne, Enthalpy sends a message to Sabrateur, telling him that he needs to get the plan done with as soon as possible.

Back on the Island, The Good Guys discuss how to get Oldham Road back. However, White-Rose suggests they wait for Daveanoyl and Mushy Pea before moving. Sherylannia looks eager to accept, and they all decide it’s a good idea, and wait. The old janitor Meanwhile, Sabrateur asks an employee of his if they are getting any closer to breaking Oldham Road. The man says that all that is left is to wait. The old janitors packages and reports are helping proficiently. Calumnius runs in with a smile on his face. He tells Sabrateur that Oldham Road wants to talk to them. They enter, and Sabrateur asks if Oldham Road has changed his mind. Oldham Road asks if Sherylannia has really given up on him. Sabrateur tells him that Sherylannia knows exactly where he is, and he’s too scared to come and save him. Oldham Road asks Sabrateur to help him get revenge. Sabrateur inducts him into the S.A.T.O ranks.

Daveanoyl, meanwhile, has entered Dhatsun as a diplomat, and moves to meet Dhatsun at his mansion. A feast takes place, and the two banter about their differing sides. Dhatsun attempts to convince Daveanoyl to join his side. Daveanoyl plays along, in the hopes of finding where Mushy Pea is being kept. Dhatsun leads him to the cellar, which is almost like a labyrinth. He tells Daveanoyl that Mushy Pea will be stuck in there, until she hands over the island. He then points a gun at Daveanoyl. He tells him that his guards will escort him into the maze, and that he is not a fool. He says that he wasn’t at all interested in Daveanoyl joining S.A.T.O., and he was just thinning the Good Guys’ ranks.

A couple of hours later, Daveanoyl contacts Buttery Boonswoggles at the control room. He wonders where Sherylannia is, and Buttery Boonswoggles tells him that he’s gone up to his quarters to rest. Daveanoyl sighs and says that he is stuck in the maze. Buttery Boonswoggles tells an employee to hack into Dhatsun’s floor plans. Daveanoyl begins to search the maze, and finds a sword in a room full of treasure. He decides the sword may be of use, and keeps it with him. Buttery Boonswoggles contacts him, and tells him they have a map. He tells Daveanoyl to describe his surroundings, and they place him in the Relic Room. ButBoo says that Mushy Pea is most likely to be in the brig area. He tells Daveanoyl the route to the brig, and also tells him to watch out for any booby traps. Daveanoyl eventually finds Mushy Pea, and she complains that he was the one sent to get her. They bicker, and remember that they need to escape. ButBoo begins to guide them out, but after a couple of hallways, a small cage shoots up and encages them both. It begins to shrink They swear at each other, until Mushy Pea tells Daveanoyl to stick the sword in the gears. This eventually strains the cage, and it falls apart. They make their way out and find Dhatsun and several armed guards. Daveanoyl turns and nods at Mushy Pea, smirk on his face, and Mushy Pea rolls her eyes at him. However, they both launch into a fight, and make short work of the guards. Dhatsun proves a stiffer challenge however, but eventually, they subdue him. They ask him where Oldham Road is. He tells them that their beloved new leader already knows, and that he’s always known. He’s just afraid to go get him. Mushy Pea knocks him out, and they make their way back to The Sparkly Island.

When they eventually get back, Mushy Pea storms in and begins to tell the others what she found out. They all look dismayed, and Sherylannia comes downstairs. Mushy Pea leads the charge, until a door slams open at the other end of the room. Oldham Road storms in, and is absolutely livid at Sherylannia. He demands to know whether what Sabrateur was saying is true. Mushy Pea confirms that it is. Oldham Road tells Sherylannia that he’s weak, and Sherylannia throws a punch at him. Oldham Road gets up and tells him that S.A.T.O forces will be surrounding the Island in less than an hour. He leaves, and Mushy Pea walks over to Sherylannia and punches him in the face. She also leaves, issuing an eviction notice to the Good Guys. Sherylannia turns to the others, asking them if they’re going to leave as well. All but ButBoo say they’ll stand by him, and start reciting “once a Good Guy, always a Good Guy”. Sherylannia’s spirits are lifted. They formulate a plan of attack. White-Rose tells them that S.A.T.O have recruited Adoggo (Christian Bale), Petersvillia (Macauley Culkin) and I Know Better Than You (Joaquin Phoenix). Domas-Porada reports that Dhatsun and Enthalpy Change have been put out of action. Sherylannia accounts for all this, and sends Domas-Porada to take on Adoggo’s army. He assigns Don Flanioso and Red Rose to take on Petersvillia’s air force, and Nintenduu and Daveanoyl to take on IKBTY’s navy. He decides that himself and White-Rose will stay at the tower, as a last line of defence. They all agree, and are off to battle. A huge war begins on the outskirts of the island, flipping between the progress of each team. Daveanoyl and Nintenduu decide to fight fire with fire, and use their combined navy’s to take on IKBTY. After a lengthy battle, they emerge victorious. Domas uses his own strength and army to make short work of Adoggo, and Don Flanioso make use of two person anti-aircraft guns and with Don Flanioso’s targeting and Red Rose quick-fire fingers, they are soon finished. The screen splits into three segments, which shows all five cheering at their respective fields of battle. However, Sabrateur and Oldham Road slip past, thanks to his knowledge of the island. It is revealed that Sabrateur wants the island to be completely destroyed, so that the Good Guys will be crippled, once and for all. They make their way to the tower, only to find Sherylannia and White-Rose blocking their way. A conversation is had, and Sherylannia proclaims that this is his chance to set things right. Oldham Road scoffs, and the four launch into a fight that shakes the very foundations of Good Guys Tower. Oldham Road eventually has Sherylannia pinned down, sword at his throat. Sherylannia apologises, and explains his reasoning. After a few moments, Oldham Road smiles, and releases Sherylannia. They clap fists together and smile. The three men all begin to fight against Sabrateur. He loses after a long fight, and begins to lose his mind. Oldham Road knocks him out, and the three men celebrate a sound victory. The other Good Guys show up and a scene transition sees a huge banquet being thrown, and the Good Guys having a party. It is explained that Sabrateur was sent back to his home country, as a show of good faith. He accepted, grudgingly, and promised S.A.T.O would not interfere again. Domas notes that he doesn’t entirely trust Sabrateur, and Oldham Road simply tells him that that’s a problem for the future. Tonight’s the time for a party. They all clink glasses, and the scene freezes. The end credits play.

Trivia

  • There was an intense feeling from forums and fans that Sabrateur not be played by Will Smith as the ethnicity of the character was in question. Despite the Sabratese government's high enthusiasm of the idea, the fans prevailed and a different actor was cast. Interestingly, there was no such qualms when Nintenduu 64 was originally due to be played by Samuel L. Jackson during The Good Guys: The Movie.
  • An entire cinema in Oldham Road had to be demolished, when an entire screening room of fanboys wet themselves with pure excitement when the trailer was first aired.
