Autonomous Operation Situational Awareness Module
An Autonomous Operation Situational Awareness Module (AOSAM) is an artificial intelligence (AI) system co-designed by Lyme and Martens Industries (LMI) and Turing-Babbage Electromechanical Devices (TBIT) of United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland for uncrewed vehicles, missiles, torpedo or other powered guided weapons intended to give those machines a limited degree of self-awareness granted by their sensor suites for collision avoidance, autonomous guidance, electronic or physical countermeasure resistance, and automatic target recognition (ATR).
LMI coined and copyrighted the term AOSAM in 2003 with the advent of several uncrewed underwater and aerial vehicles. Crewed aircraft designed by Detmerian Aerospace Dynamics (DAS) use AOSAM systems as well for assisted target recognition and autopiloting systems.
