National Coat of Arms

  • Quartered by a narrow cross Or, First and Fourth, Azure, among three roses Or seeded Sable, two griffins passant segreant in fess crowned Or, having for its dexter talon a human arm armoured Argent brandishing a sword with hilt Or, langued and clawed Gules, which is for Isselmere and Detmere;
    • Second and Third, Gules, a lion rampant crowned Or, paw dexter armed with a sword Argent hilted Or, langued and armed Azur, which is for Nieland;
  • Overall an inescutcheon, the arms of the House of Glaines-Oldmarch;
  • For a Crest, upon a torse Argent and Azure thereon the royal helm beneath the royal crown proper Or with bands Gules, a mantling Ermine within Gules, surmounting all a hoary tern proper atop a sun in splendour, beneath a motto Neer so far;
  • The whole surrounded by Chains of Office, those of the Order of the Tern, of the Order of the Linen, and of the Order of the Gryphon;
  • For Supporters, lions rampant Or crowned Proper, langued and armed Gules, bearing lances, addextré the pennant of the Kingdom of Isselmere, sinistré of Kingdom of Nieland, the compartment Vert with four roses Or. Motto, Pro Deus quod nostrum populus.

The official heraldic blazon describes the coat of arms of Isselmere-Nieland thusly:

  • Quarterly, first, Gules a tern Argent displayed and crowned Or beneath three roses Or, which is for Isselmere;
    • Second, Azure a stag rampant, langued and armed, beneath an acorn Or, which is for Anguist;
    • Third, Azure a trout Argent nageant, beneath two towers Or, embattled and voided gate and windows, masoned Sable and ajoure Gules, which is for Detmere;
    • Fourth, Gules an ibex statant, langued and crowned within a double tressure flory-counter-flory Or, which is for Nieland;
  • Overall an inescutcheon party per cross;
    • First, Vert an unicorn rampant crowned Argent labelled Argent, which is for the House of Caitwuil;
    • Second, Argent a boar Sable rampant, langued Gules beneath a rose Gules, which is for the House of Houmbertis;
    • Third, Azure a lion rampant gardant crowned with ax bordered by nine six-pointed stars Or and langued Gules, which is for the House of Sigurdsson;
    • Fourth, Gules a lion rampant Argent beneath a crown Or, which is for the House of Alvarsson;

The whole surrounded by the Chain of Office (Order of the Tern);

The modern blazon for the Principality since 1986 is:

  • Vert, an hart's head affronty Argent crowned and accorné Or.
  • For a Crest, upon a torse Argent and Azure the princely helm Or beneath the princely crown proper, a mantling Ermine within Vert
  • For Supporters, harts rampant affrontant Argent, crowned and accorné Or, langued and ungulé Azure, bearing lances, addextré the pennant of Anguist, sinistré of the Kingdom of Isselmere, the compartment Vert with seven roses Or.

Detmere

Isselmere

The coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Isselmere is based on the purported arms of Hænulf I. Blasoned, this is:

  • Argent, an eagle displayed Azure, beaked and membered Or, langued and armed Gules.
  • For a Crest, a Royal helm.
  • For Supporters, two lions Or bearing lances with the banner of Isselmere on both.

Nieland

The coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Nieland is that of the Kingdom of Nieland albeit with a ducal crown instead of the royal crown.

  • Gules, among eight roses a dragon rampant Or langued and armed Azure bearing a battleaxe Argent handled of the second.
  • For a Crest, a Royal helm.
  • For Supporters, two lions Or bearing lances with the banner of Nieland on both.
