GWLS.58 missile launching system
The GWLS.58 or Guided Weapon Launch System no.58 is a joint venture of the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland and Lyme and Martens Industries Aerospace Technologies Division initially manufactured in 2004 to launch the GWS.58 Hurricane supersonic cruise missile from the Port-class cruise missile submarine. The GWLS.58, like the GWLS.35, has undergone several modifications, the latest of which being the dual-length GWLS.58M3 (GWLS no.58, Surface Vessel variant, Mk.3) equipping the latest batch of Europa-class heavy command battleships.
Like guided weapons systems numbers, GWLS numbers are designated by the Defence Procurement Agency, followed by the requisite launch environment classification and variant or mark number.
