Current Team
(World Cup 24)
Goalkeepers
1. Ricardo DiTorino - Akani Sands, age 19, 31 caps.
- Had a hugely successful season, winning the league and cup double with Akani Sands and continuing to make the Aroras no.1 jersey his own. The cat-like agility of this young shot-stopper has propelled him to the brink of international stardom.
2. Amir Bettison - Gabalfa Rovers, age 32, 49 caps.
- Despite spening most of last season on the international sidelines, the hugely experienced Gabalfa Rovers goalkeeper comes into this tournament as the proud bearer of a CofH bronze medal. Hugely inspirational with a great footballing brain.
3. Robert Sole - Lorshill United, age 22, 1 cap.
- Finally gained his first international cap during AOCAF IX after another disappointing season with his club Lorshill United. This 6'2" keeper has huge potential which many critics have recently stated as being wasted. Looks set to leave his long-time club after attracting some interest from a number of clubs within the Apex League.
Defence
4. Gwynoro Tyrno'r - Sukatra Tigers, age 19, 3 caps.
- The former U21 international finally burst onto the full international scene during the last World Cup campaign and showed some steady performances. Will be looking to build on that experience.
5. Musa Williams - Gabalfa Rovers, age 27, 47 caps.
- The hard-tackling Rovers centre-back has been a mainstay of the Bettian back-line for quite some time now, and its not hard to see why. Rarely puts a foot wrong.
6. Wasim Morgan - Ceffinton Town, age 23, 21 caps.
- A utility defender who can play in any position along the back. Although he has struggled to break into the Bettian first team recently, he has proven to be a versatile and much-valued substitute.
7. Geraint Carew - Vimesbairn Athletic (Cockbill Street), age 26, 54 caps, 1 goal.
- Bettia's flying right wing-back who has slotted in very nicely into the Arora's usualy 5-3-2 formation. A dependable tackler and swift counter-attacker, he has also started to show some prowess from the penalty spot.
8. Ian Redpath - Akani Sands, age 26, 12 caps.
- Captain of the double-winning Akani Sands, Ian Redpath broke into the Bettian squad during the previous World Cup and quickly made a name for himself as a solid reliable centre-back.
9. Michael Ryder - Gabalfa City, age 27, 38 caps.
- A dependable defender famed for his hard, ruthless but well-timed tackling, who has seen his international exploits limited by injury and the emergence of young talent. Nonetheless, Ryder is still a great asset to any team.
10. Jonathon McKinnon - Patriots Everton (Krytenia), age 20, 24 caps.
- An exciting young prospect whose talents earnt him a move to the K-League. Is slowly but surely establishing a place for himself in the Aroras starting eleven.
11. Amir Bin Da'ud - Gabalfa Rovers, age 28, 48 caps.
- An exciting, experienced left wing-back who made a name for himself in Bettian football with his long throws which have set up many goals in the past for both club and country. Is pretty much an integral part of the Bettian team.
12. Gareth Coates (captain) - Grappenhall United, age 25, 42 caps, 1 goal.
- Vastly experienced captain of the Bettian national squad who often puts in near-flawless performances (according to him anyway).
Midfield:
13. John Connick - Rolestu FC (Bedistan), age 29, 50 caps.
- The midfield dynamo who has established himself as the playmaker of the team. Connick's fine performances for club and country this season have resulted in him moving to Bedistani giants Rolestu FC.
14. Badr Warlow - Gabalfa City, age 21, 8 caps, 1 goal.
- An emerging talent whose free-kicks are famed and feared within the Apex League. Scored on his debut during the last World Cup qualifying round.
15. Aaron Brown - Emcorn, age 22, 34 caps, 2 goals.
- A nippy little right-winger who has seen his international prospects diminished by recent changes in playing style and formation. owever, none can doubt his attacking capabilities, often linking up well with the right wing-back to set up swift attacks.
16. Omar Whistler - Maindy Wanderers, age 24, 35 caps, 11 goals.
- A cool, measured influence in the centre of midfield who is traditionally the first-choice penalty-taker for the Aroras. Despite being just 5'8", he oftens pops up during corners and free-kicks to nick a goal here and there.
17. Evan Brooks - Gabalfa Rovers, age 27, 61 caps, 15 goals.
- Reckoned by many to be the best midfielder Bettia has ever produced, his set-pieces are second to none. Equally at home in the centre or on either wing.
18. Ieaun Swain - Grappenhall United, age 22, 19 caps, 2 goals.
- An exceptionally quick player who has made the left-wing slot his own.
Forwards:
19. Lewis Bin-Majd - Gabalfa City, age 29, 3 caps
- Prolific club goalscorer who made his debut during AOCAF IX, and will be looking to expand on that by netting his first goal for the Aroras.
20. Latif Hunter - Aigburth Athletic (Krytenia), age 19, 6 caps, 1 goal.
- A true wonderkid, Hunter astounded the Bettian footballing scene by winning the Golden Boot during the first Apex League. Now plies his trade in Krytenia where the experience sems to have done hime a world of good.
21. Chris Hutton - Marine Coast United (Vilita), age 18, 32 caps, 11 goals.
- A prolific scorer in international football who was recently named the best foreign striker in the V-League. Famed for his tenacity and shooting accuracy.
22. Bobbie Rosenstiehl - Downton, age 23, 19 caps, 4 goals.
- A skillful forward who is able to set goals up from the right-hand side as well as score them himself.
23. John Harding - Akani Sands, age 28, 25 caps, 19 goals.
- A lanky striker whose 22 goals helped Akani Sands to the league and cup double. His 6'4" frame makes him the ideal target man.
24. Gethin Ward - Gabalfa Rovers, age 29, 32 caps, 14 goals.
- Gabalfa Rovers' main striker has been a regular feature of the Betian lineup for quite some time, but has been eclipsed by the emerge of such talent as Hunter, Hutton and York. A supreme goal poacher in the same vein as his former team-mate and Bettian legend Stuart Abdul-Rahim.
25. Judson York - Pylos Reavers (Hypocria), age 26, 30 caps, 22 goals
- Fearsome. There's no other word to describe Judson York. His skill, speed and power has seen him set the Hypocrian league on fire over the last couple of seasons, and he has established himself as a first team regular for Bettia.
Mascot:
Tiddles - age 7, 31 caps, 3 victims
- Bettia's beloved but slightly vicious Arora mascot returns for her second World Cup campaign. Normally docile and sometimes bordering on cute, Tiddles has been known to get the red mist at the drop of a hat, especially when refereeing decisions don't go Bettia's way.
