Hammerhead Class Light Aircraft Carrier

The Hammerhead class, CV-7, light aircraft carrier was designed by Phoenix Dynamix for small nations or as a supplement to larger carriers. Surprisingly it is not nuclear powered, which keeps the cost down. The Hammerhead Class features a full weapons suite, enabling it to deal with up frigate size craft on its own without using its 75 aircraft. The CV-7 features medium level armor around the torpedo belt and additional armor on the flight deck and superstructure, increasing survivability in combat and reducing the chance of being sunk. It has a low tower design which gives the flight deck comparatively flat topped appearance.

Aircraft Capacity

The Hammerhead can hold up to 75 fixed wing aircraft or helicopters. There are a number small maintenance bays and one large maintenance/storage area beneath the flight deck for easy access.

Catapults

Three scaled down Maglev catapults were designed for the hammerhead. The catapults were based Phoenix Class' but use less power, and require about 10 more feet to be 100% effective. This was made up for by moving the starting point further toward the rear of the ship.

Elevators

Two large elevators, working on an electromagnetic principle similar to the maglev catapults , were specially designed for the class. They can rapidly move aircraft on to and off of the main flight deck and into the large maintenance/storage bay.

Weapons

(2) Advanced Sea Sparrow quad missile launchers
(1) PD-XBV-THEL-N Anti-Missile Laser*this option was not included in export versions
