The T-140 is a Tank made by the Firehelper Armour Corporation.

Development

The T-140 was designed to replace the T-130. It was contracted in 1990 after several NATO tanks surpassed the T-130 in many areas. The T-140 was designed after said NATO tanks rather than the tanks produced by the now defunct Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The design and testing of the XT-140 was completed in 1997 and production of tanks immediately began. The last T-130 tank was replaced by the T-140 in early 2007 and it remains on of the most modern tanks in the world.

Design

Armour

The T-140 uses a modified version of the NATO Chobham armour. Like the M1A2 that America uses this tank is also equipped with a Depleted Uranium mesh and a Kevlar liner. Because of this armour significant protection again HEAT, HESH, and Penetrator rounds is given. The tank is able to survive hits from close ranged weapons also. Thus far this armour has never been proven in actual combat.

Main Gun

The TG-54 is the main gun for all T-130s. It is able to fire a variety of rounds including HEAT, Penetrators, gun fired guided missiles, smoke charges, flechette/ shotgun, APFSDS, and HE-FS rounds. It can fire 4-8 rounds a minute depending on the speed of the gunner.

Secondary Weapons

.50 MG-142T is the main secondary weapon located at the top of the turret near the commanders hatch. The F-120T 37mm Anti-Aircraft Gun can be equipped instead of the MG-142T in areas where extra firepower is needed or a air threat is significant. The gunner can also use the .50 MC-144T Chaingun in the event that the avalable ammunition is expended. The turret is also equipped with a smoke screen canister launcher and can also produce smoke by converting fuel.

Aiming

The T-140 is equipped with a T-11 fire-control computer that uses data from a variety of sources, including the gunner's primary sight, Satilite Navigation System, a laser rangefinder, a crosswind sensor, a pendulum static cant sensor, data on the ammunition type, ammunition temperature, and a muzzle reference sensor (MRS) that determines barrel drop due to gravity and temperature. The fire-control system uses this data to compute a firing solution for the gunner. The gunner controls firing unless overridden by the tank commander. ((mostly from wikipedia))

Variants

XT-140A This variant is still in its final testing stages. It is due to replace the T-140 starting next year when production will start. This variant incorporates Electric reactive armour directly into the tank. This will provide additional protection to the crew and prolong the survivability of the tank. It will be one of the first tanks to incorporate this advanced technology and additional details remain classified.

XT-140B This variant is simlar to the XT-140A except that it uses the Arena Active Protection System rather than Electric Reactive Armour.

T-140C This varient will eventually become the main tank of the firehelper armed forces. It uses both parts of the T-140A and B.
