The race has already been completed (the filming finished and the prize money awarded), but the PBC has neither confirmed nor denied two separate rumours: the first, that the network would either switch the show to another timeslot in order to avoid competition with ''CSI: Timiocato'', or move the show to [[PBC Four]], and the second, that the show had been cancelled outright. Therefore, because the network ordered and agreed to air all thirteen episodes, it is safest to say the series was put on hiatus with the intention of continuation at a later date.

The Amazing Race 1 is the first installment of the reality television show, The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 1 features twelve teams of two, with a pre-existing relationship, in a race around Atlantian Oceania. Applications were accepted through 10th May, 2006. Filming ran from 2nd July, to 4th August, 2006. The season began with a 60-minute season premiere on 7th December, 2006, broadcasting in the Thursday 21:00 (AOTC+3) timeslot on the Pacitalian Broadcasting Corporation's PBC1 channel.

PBC's original plan was to air the series' 13 episodes over 14 weeks between 7th December, 2006 and 8th March, 2007, with the non-airing week coming between the fifth and sixth legs of the race.

However, on 16th January, 2007, following an already-scheduled one-week break in the series, the PBC announced it was placing the show on hiatus due to low viewership, both in Pacitalia and on average. The show premiered strong in Pacitalia but, by the fifth (and to date, latest) episode, had seen its timeslot share drop, with only 54,204,770 viewers for that week (Network Two's CSI: Timiocato, which airs at the same time, had 150,994,805 viewers for that week's episode). The PBC had hoped that placing the reality show, with its unique format, against CSI: Timiocato would steal viewers away on a steady basis, but only the season premiere scored a greater share of the timeslot's market.

The race has already been completed (the filming finished and the prize money awarded), but the PBC has neither confirmed nor denied two separate rumours: the first, that the network would either switch the show to another timeslot in order to avoid competition with CSI: Timiocato, or move the show to PBC Four, and the second, that the show had been cancelled outright. Therefore, because the network ordered and agreed to air all thirteen episodes, it is safest to say the series was put on hiatus with the intention of continuation at a later date.

1 = Diega and Wolfgang were eliminated on the spot by host Cano Mora, in Gabalfa, as Chelsie and Rona had already checked in at the pit stop nearly three hours before.
2 = Chelsie and Rona won the fast forward and were in first until just before reaching the hotel. Ending up second to the mat, they were forced to wait thirty minutes due to having been "marked for elimination" in the previous round. In that time, eight more teams reached the mat, pushing the team down to 9th.

  • Red means the team was eliminated.
  • Blue means the team was the last to arrive at a pit stop in a non-elimination leg of the race and was thus "marked for elimination," meaning that if that team did not place first on the next leg, they would receive a 30 minute penalty.
  • Green means the team won the Fast Forward clue.
  • A yellow > means that team chose to use the Yield; < indicates the team who received it; <> indicates a leg where the Yield was available but not used.

Race locations

Leg 1: Pacitalia → Bettia

  • Timiocato, Capitale, Pacitalia (Piazza dei Santi) - starting line
  • airplane.png Timiocato (Timiocato Santo Ragazzo International Airport) to Gabalfa, Bettia (Gabalfa International Airport)
  • Train - Gabalfa to Upper Sweeney - (Rainforest Interpretive Centre)
  • Upper Sweeney - Guide or Slide TheAmazingRace-detour.png
  • Upper Sweeney - Fish Toss TheAmazingRace-roadblock.png
  • Upper Sweeney - Hotel East Bettia Amazingracelogo.jpg

The first detour was a choice between using orienteering to find clues stapled to trees, and rolling of logs down tracks using traditional tools. The roadblock involved tossing fish into a bucket from a measured distance.

Leg 2: Bettia → Nedalia → Spruitland

  • Upper Sweeney, Banastra, Bettia to southwestern U Gwlad Teg, Bettia-Nedalia (Bren-Brooks International Wildlife Park)
  • Bren-Brooks International Wildlife Park - Spot or Trot TheAmazingRace-detour.png
  • airplane.png Bren-Brooks International Wildlife Park - Bren-Brooks Airfield, Nedalia, to Kafra International Airport, Kafra, Nedalia
  • Kafra - Roach Run TheAmazingRace-roadblock.png
  • airplane.png Kafra International Airport, Kafra, Nedalia, to New Brux International Airport, New Brux, Spruitland
  • New Brux - New Brux International Airport, Hotel and Conference Centre Amazingracelogo.jpg

The detour on this leg was a choice between a birdwatching activity, which involved the use of binoculars to correct identify local bird species on a laminated sheet, and a physical exertion task which involved a relay run between two stakes in the ground while carrying a backpack laden with 25kg lead weights. The roadblock involved consuming ten curried cockroaches covered in a spicy cream sauce, a Nedalian delicacy.

Leg 3: Spruitland → Milchama

  • New Brux, Spruitland - New Brux International Airport Hotel and Conference Centre, to Palisades Airport Hotel
  • New Brux Palisades Airport Hotel - View From The Top TheAmazingRace-roadblock.png
  • Train - New Brux, Spruitland, to Sativa, Spruitland, then taxi to Valhove
  • Valhove - City Spruit Plantation Collective
  • Drive - Valhove, Spruitland, to Sativa, Spruitland
  • airplane.png Sativa International Airport, Sativa, Spruitland, to Alexandria International Airport, Alexandria, Milchama
  • Bus - Alexandria International Airport to Statue of the Broken Painter
  • Alexandria - Steal or Beg TheAmazingRace-detour.png
  • Alexandria - Beit Hagah Synagogue Amazingracelogo.jpg

The roadblock in this leg involved freefall jumping off the top of the hotel. The mid-leg task at the spruit collective involved searching through pallets of prepackaged spruits for clues. The detour in this leg was a choice between asking locals for historical information about the Statue of the Broken Painter, or finding the most frequently used word in a passage of Oliver Twist. Both tasks involved reporting the correct answer to a designated person, and starting the entire task over if the answer given was incorrect.

Leg 4: Milchama → Bazalonia

  • Alexandria, Milchama - Beit Hagah Synagogue, to Chof Maariv, Milchama
  • Ferry - Chof Maariv, Milchama, to Cantinople, Bazalonia
  • Fast Forward: airplane.png Cantinople International Airport, Cantinople, Bazalonia, to Fauxhan International Airport, Fauxhan, Bazalonia
  • Fast Forward: Fauxhan - Remember Me TheAmazingRace-fastforward.png
  • Cantinople - Make A Wish TheAmazingRace-roadblock.png
  • Cantinople - Hide or Seek TheAmazingRace-detour.png
  • Train - Cantinople, Bazalonia, to Fauxhan, Bazalonia
  • Fauxhan - BazLighters Hotel Amazingracelogo.jpg

The roadblock in this leg involved searching through three fountains for coins minted nearly 90 years ago and returning them to the maitre d' at the restaurant. One of the coins had to have a miniature version of the Bazalonian flag on the obverse. In the detour, teams stayed within the restaurant and chose between trying to conceal a playing card somewhere in a room in the cellar, so that a magician could not find it within thirty seconds; alternately, they had to go to the wine cellar out back and find a specific vintage by deciphering a limerick poem given to them with the clue. The fast forward involving flying ahead to Fauxhan and memorising a quote on the memorial of Richard Menszae, then reciting it in front of a parliamentary session.

Leg 5: Bazalonia → Fmjphoenix

The detour in this leg was a choice between bungee jumping or searching through boxes for clues stapled to the inside. The roadblock involved one member of each team climbing a smokestack at a manufacturing plant to receive their clue at the top. Teams received no money on this leg of the race.

Trivia

General

  • The route markers in The Amazing Race 1 were striped red and yellow.

In-race

  • On Leg 1, there was nearly six and a half hours time between the first-place team and the last-place team, eight hours if including Diega and Wolfgang, who were eliminated before even reaching the town of Upper Sweeney, and thus, the detour.
  • On Leg 2, while still in Bettia, a Welsh-speaking shopkeeper misunderstood Andy and Matt's request for directions and mistakenly directed them 90km south to the M1 expressway, a tolled route whose booths did not open until eight that morning, leaving the Krytenian brothers to wait at the booth for the guard to arrive. None of the other teams took this route to the park, instead opting for a poorly maintained but more direct local road through Grappenhall.
  • On Leg 2, one of three flights from Bren-Brooks International Wildlife Park's airstrip to Kafra International Airport was redirected to Aanjar, Nedalia's second-largest city, as an unknown wildcard for teams. The second flight ended up being the indirect flight.
  • On Leg 3, teams were forbidden to use local public transit in western Spruitland, except for the national train system or taxicabs, as bus drivers in Sativa are notorious for almost always being intoxicated or drugged. The move was a safety concern on the part of the producers.
  • On Leg 4, Dave's yielding of the Krytenian brothers, Andy and Matt, turned out to be the saving grace for Chelsie and Rona, who had been marked for elimination on the previous leg. The fast-forward allowed them to reach the mat in second after spending most of the leg in last place with a multi-hour disadvantage. The Vegan best-friends incurred the thirty-minute penalty upon failing to reach the pit stop first, and saw all but the Krytenians thusly pass them by in reaching the mat; thus, Dave's yield turned out to be just barely enough to save them from the boot.
  • On Leg 4, Romano and Tony finished in the top three due to their firsthand knowledge of Fauxhan: it is their hometown.
  • On Leg 5, the detour involved a task of finding clues stapled to boxes, with a ratio of one clue per 100 boxes. However, Romano and Tony searched 276 boxes before finding a clue.
