The East Pacific is one of the six super regions of NationStates, known collectively as the Pacifics. The East Pacific is aligned with the South Pacific, the West Pacific, the People's Republic of the Pacific, and the the Heartland. It is staunchly opposed to the Alliance Defense Network. The East Pacific is a Member of The League of the Pacifics

Due to the rapid dumping of his inbox, 1 Infinite Loop, the region's Delegate, prefers that all lobbying for UN resolutions be broached via the Offsite forum.

History

  • The region was founded by Hitler the Great on the orders of Nusseburg from the Atlantic Central Command due to the urgings of MrNonchalant. It was then subsequently taken by a group of pirates and around this point became a feeder. As a feeder region, it rapidly grew to accomodate hosts of newly founded nations.
  • Shortly after the beginning of 1 Infinite Loop's Delegacy, the region suffered an attack by griefers. In the ensuing confusion, the East Pacific successfully defended against various outside interferences, most notably an expansionist move by The Rejected Realms, led by a nascent Kandarin.
  • Briefly after this attack a Griefer Armada called the National Stalinists attacked using a Preendorsement Loophole to seize the Delegacy, 1 Infinite Loop was online at the time and was instrumental in aiding the Moderators in catching them by providing a screencapture of the delegate's Endorsements. This Screencap allowed the moderators to break up a UN Multi ring of 80 + nations.
  • The main regional holiday is Confederation Day : October 31st. The Regional Government was founded on October 31st 2003 with the Ratification of the EP Articles of Confederation.
  • The largest war the East Pacific has ever seen has come to an end. The Loopite nation, and the Packilvanian Hive signed an historic peace accord that promises to promote peace throughout the region. While technically both sides declared the war a draw, analysts from the Free Pacific States, and other East Pacific nations have declared that the Packilavnian Hive actually won the war, if only by a slim margin.
  • As of 18th February 2005, the Articles of Confederation have been superceded by the Charter of The East Pacific. The Charter was drawn up by the nations of The East Pacific to address failings in the Articles of Confederation and to address broad policy for the nature of the East Pacific.

Government of the EP

The East Pacific Government broadly follows the three-body system (Executive, Legislative, Judiciary) as exemplified in the United States of America. The Executive position is occupied by the Delegate, and said position is elected for life; hence campaigning for the delegacy is prohibited.

The legislative house (Known as the Magisterial Assembly) operates along the lines of the Houses of Parliament (United Kingdom). The head of the Assembly is accorded the title of Consul, and is responsible for maintaining order within the Assembly, as well as communicating with the rest of government.

Popular Sports

The East Pacific has only a few popular regional sports, they are avid fans of hockey, with most of the nations within the region hosting at least one team.

Notable teams are the (to be named) East Pacific Hockey Championship champions of last year, Packilvania "Rocks" (who are currently being investigated for possible cybernetics abuse), as well as the Infinite Loop "Pirates", whose Head Coach former basketball coach Bobby Knight who cost the team two victories due to his Chair Throwing habits.

The East Pacific also activly competes in the team Mornington Crescent tournaments which are currently in preliminaries and will this year be shown on ESPN 8 "The Ocho", IL's DuMont Network, as well as on most local Public Radio stations on your AM Dial.
