The Armed Holy Democratic Empire of Asgarnieu is a nation that can be found in the south-eastern portion of The 10000 Islands. It is a peacful nation, and a powerful nation. Loved by most, Feared by many, and Respected by all, Asgarnieu is a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.

National Symbols

Asgarnieu is a land of splendor. It is also home to several plant and animal species. A select few that embrace individualism have been chosen to be National Symbols of Asgarnieu.

Asgarnian Grey Lion

The Asgarnian Grey Lion is a unique species found only in Asgarnieu. It is a large creature, similar to an African Lion, but bears much larger incisors and has an extremely dark tail end. The rear legs and tail are jet-black. Its scientific name is A. Greyus. It was discovered in 1943 in the Henderson Desert by Dr. Evan Gordon Grey. Dr. Grey wrote this in his journal describing the animal:

The animal appears to be 7 feet in length, and around 4 feet tall. I have never in my professional career seen an animal with such coloration. This must be a new species. I am going to regiser this animal with the Internal Animal Registry. I have taken several photographs of this beast, and have concluded that it is a new species, or at least a previously undiscovered one.

The Asgarnian Grey Lion is an abundant species.

Asgarnian Silver Oak

The Asgarnian Silver Oak is the national tree of Asgarnieu. It is a normal-sized oak tree, and is classified as S. Oak. The tree is native to Asgarnieu and is found nowhere else in the world. It is called the Silver Oak due to the fact that a layer behind the bark called the Secondary Xylem is silver in color. This tree is very rare, and is being planted in decidious forests to strengthen the numbers.

Crimson Cardinal

The Crimson Cardinal is a bird that inhabits the Province Ruppio Island. The island is uninhabited, and is a national wildlife preserve. It was discovered by passing explorers in the 1800's. They noted its extremely crimson color. It was "nothing like the cardinals we see in our nation...". It is a national symbol, and flourishes in the western part of the mainland and on Ruppio Island.

Black Racer

The Black Racer is a non-venomous species of snake. It is extremely fast on land, and quite speedy in water. It can be found in the desert scrub of Asgarnieu's Thatcher Desert, and near Lake Trenton. It is a 4-6 foot snake, with a bad temper. It has been known to actually find things to attack, despite the fact it has no venom.

Executive Branch

The President is the Commander In Chief, and the elected leader of the nation. The Vice Chancellor is the Advisor to the President, and acts as a universal diplomat to foriegn nations. The Vice President is the Second In Command, and takes on the duties that the President has given him. The Vice Chancellor is the lowest man on the totem pole. He takes on the tasks given to him by the Grand Chancellor.

The Legislative Branch consists of The Grand Parliment and The Congress.

Grand Parliment is the legislation that handles decisions within the nation itself. It works on the national level. Congress handles decisions within the Provinces/Territories. Any issues that need to be addressed by a Province/Territory are decided upon by Congress.

Climate and Weather

Asgarnieu's weather is impecable. Weather is usually mild, with warm summers, and cool winters. In some regions, there are several deserts, but lush green mixed decidious and coniferous forests cover most of the nation. Snow covers most of the higher elevations, usually above 9,500 feet. There are several such areas in the nation. In the eastern portion of the nation, however, there is much rain. Over 78 inches fall there every year, mostly because it is a rain forest area.

Flag

The current Asgarnian Flag was adopted on April 13. The Flag has a Cobalt Blue background. There is a Coat of Arms in the upper-hoist corner of the Flag. In the Coat of Arms, there is a 5-pointed Silver Star. There is also a Gold scroll across the top of the Coat of Arms that says "Asgarnieu". Below the star is the words "Leo Terram Propriam Protegat". It is wrapped with a half-wreath of Olive Branch.

Identification

Asgarnian Citizens are issued Compulsory Identification Cards at the age of 10. It is updated every 2 years, is manditory to update.

Driver's License

Citizens that reach the age of 16, and have no Felony Convictions are issued a manditory Driver's License or Vehicular Operator's License. If the citizen has a Felony Conviction, they are issued the Restriced (R) License at the age of 18. The license expires when the citizen turns 70, and must be updated every 5 years.

National Holidays

All holidays are days-off for government workers, and citizens regularly close up their shops. Of all the holidays, November 18's Freedom Day is regarded in the highest. It is almost expected of citizens to attend local parades, firework shows, and parties.

Flag Day is the National Holiday which celebrates the adoption of the current Flag of Asgarnieu. It is recommended that all citizens fly a flag on that day. Flag Day is celebrated on April 13.

Warrior's Day

Warrior's Day celebrates all Asgarnian soldiers. They are regarded as heros and warriors. Warriors Day is on August 10.

Annexation Day

Annexation Day celebrates the annexation of Province Ruppio Island. It is celebrated on November 8.

Freedom Day

Freedom Day celebrates the founding of The Order of Asgarnian Citizen's Rights. It is celebrated on November 18.

Peace Day

Peace Day celebrates the ending of The Balkan City Uprising. It is celebrated on December 8.

Language

The official languges of Asgarnieu are English and Russian. English and Russian are taught in schools and are spoken by 100% of the population. Other languages spoken are French, German, and Portuguese.

French

French is spoken by 32% of the population. It began being spoken by immigrants from Belgium, France, and French Canada. Citizens can learn it in school, as an elective. Vegas Province has the highest population of French-speaking citizens.

German

22% of Asgarnians speak German. It was originally brought to Asgarnieu during World War II, when over 25,000 German Jews emmigrated to Asgarnieu. It is still spoken by the ancestors of those families. Vandilla Province is home to 17% of the German-speaking population of Asgarnieu.

Portuguese

Portuguese is spoken by 45% of the population, as it was once the official language of The Holy Empire of Asgarnieu. The Armed Holy Democratic Empire of Asgarnieu changed this by making English the official language. Portuguese-speaking citizens are scattered around the nation, but 30% of them live in Druid Province.

Other Languages

The Fl'eepe N'aakty tribe speaks its own language, Rüggjötrê. It is an almost unintelligible language for most Asgarnians. The tribe also speaks english. Rüggjötrê is recognised as a Tribally-Spoken Language. It is spoken by 935,422 citizens currently.

Currency

The currency of Asgarnieu is the Gold Point of Asgarnieu. It is worth approxamately 12 U.S. Dollars ($). It is marked by the symbol "₣". All exchanges of currency in Asgarnieu are made with Asgarnian Gold Points. International businesses may use the U.S. Dollar for exchanges around the world.

Glassbrook Tower

Glassbrook Tower was constructed in 2003, and is largely made up of glass. It is located in Balkan City's Downtown Area.

Empire Tower

Empire Tower was constructed in 2004 to honor the old Holy Empire of Asgarnieu. It is absolutly massive, and is the largest office building in Asgarnieu.

The Pyramid

The Pyramid was built in 2004 to house an international trade center. It is tall, but extremely stable. It, too is located in Balkan City's Downtown Area.

Government Buildings

These buildings are strictly maintained and used by the Government of Asgarnieu.

Government Center

Government Center is located in Balkan City and is right across the street from The Government Building. It is used to control government operations throughout the nation. It was constructed in 2005.

Central Tower Complex

The Central Tower Complex was constructed in early 2006, and is home to Central Command. It is very well known, but few civilians have ever entered it. It will remain in service for 59 years. Then, a new building will be constructed, and Central Tower will be given to the public.

Religion

Most of the citizens in Asgarnieu believe in Chistianity in one form or another, but there are also several other faiths. Muslim makes up 7%, Jewish makes up 10%, and other religions make up 13%. 10% of the citizens are Agnostic or practice Atheism. Atheists are taxed by the government. All churches are made to pay the same taxes most businesses have to pay.

Culture and Background

Asgarnieu is a mosaic of culture. The country is a host for over 100 different ethnicities. The majority consists of the ancestors of the Fl'eepe N'aakty tribe, which is over 1,000 years old. Over one-twentyfifth of the population is of the Fl'eepe N'aakty race. Other ethnicities include anglo, hispanic, black, and asian.

Armed Forces

There are currently 9 branches of the military in Asgarnieu. Asgarnieu has one of the most powerful military forces within the 10000 Islands, and is active in the Ten Thousand Islands Treaty Organization (TITO). The Asgarnian Armed Forces consists of several branches. The branches are:

The exact number of Regular Military troops in the Asgarnian Collective Armed Forces is classified. The military is backed up by Asgarnian National Guard troops, and each branch maintains Asgarnian Military Reserve troops. Military service is compulsory for all males who are 18 years old, and they must serve for at least 18 months. Women can join at their will. The military draft will consider any male who is 16-39 years old. Women are not eligible for the draft. TITO is also an active military force in Asgarnieu, but is reserved for use in TITO Defense roles and do not join battle with Asgarnian Forces. There are also TITO Troops within Asgarnieu's borders. Recently, a Coalition between Asgarnieu and NeoVelvien was formed. It is called The ANC Coalition. ANC stands for Asgarnian/NeoVelvien Coalition. The primary role of ANC troops is defense of strategic military and political sites. Also, The ANC can be used in battle to assist in assaults or raids.

Asgarnian Army

The Asgarnian Army is the main branch of the Asgarnian Military. The Army is the branch that sees the most action in combat. They are deployable within 6 hours of any call. The Asgarnian Army is the largest branch of the Asgarnian Military and is a force to be reckoned with. The Asgarnian Army is trained extensively, and is very well equipped. Eligibility for joining the Asgarnian Army is defined as having extremely good body health, high muscle percentage, high IQ, and high endurance.

Asgarnian Air Force

The Asgarnian Air Force is the 3rd largest branch of the military. It's main purpose is to provide close support for ground forces, perform long/medium/short range attacks, defend the Homeland, and protect national and foriegn airspace. The Asgarnian Air Force mainly operates fixed-wing aircraft, but also utilizes rotary-wing aircraft. Traning is rigourous and very dangerous.

Asgarnian Air Defense Force

The purpose of The Asgarnian Air Defense Force is defense of the Homeland. It is not a branch of the military, but a sub-division. It is also deployable to anywhere in the world. They operate a wide variety of aircraft, and are very well trained. They are basically trained exactly as The Asgarnian Air Force.

Asgarnian Marines

The Asgarnian Marines are the primary support branch. Their job is to "Be the first in, and the last out" of a combat area. They also operate air, land, and sea vehicles. The Asgarnian Marines are a very large force and are very dangerous. The requirements for acceptance are the strictest in the nation.

Asgarnian Naval Force

The Asgarnian Naval Force (Asgarnian Navy) is one of the most powerful in the world. The mission of The Asgarnian Navy is to "Protect the seas of the world from the world". The Naval Identifying Code for Asgarnian Navy Vessels is A-N-S. A-N-S stands for "Asgarnian Naval Ship". The Asgarnian Navy also operates all types of aircraft.

Asgarnian Special Forces

The Asgarnian Special Forces is the brance that deals with Unconventional Warfare. The warriors of the Special Forces are ruthless and are not bound by any rules besides the Rules of Engagment. They are equpped with special weapons, special equipment, special uniforms, and special vehicles. They are the primary clandestine forces of Asgarnieu's Military.

Asgarnian Coastal Defense Forces

The role of The Asgarnian Coastal Defense Force is to defend the waters of Asgarnieu. They work hand-in-hand with the Asgarnian Naval Force. They are equipped with special vessels that are specially designed for rivers and low-level waters. They can also be deployed around the world.

Asgarnian Border Defense Forces

The Asgarnian Border Defense Force is the smallest branch of the military. Their primary role is manning checkpoints on the borders of provinces and territories in Asgarnieu. They are also stationed at military installations for use at entrances. They are very well trained and are expert marksmen. They are also deployable to foriegn nations in which military installations are located.

Asgarnian National Defense Forces

The role of The Asgarnian National Defense Forces is defense of the Homeland. They operate the ground-based anti-missile laser systems, SAM's, Anti-Aircraft Artillery, and N/B/C ICBM's around the nation. They are not deployable to other nations. They are perhaps the most important branch in the military.

Asgarnian Royal Parlimentary Guard

The Asgarnian Royal Parlimentary Guard is the branch of the military that is responsible for defending embassys, government buildings, military installations, and national historical sites. They are also a quick-strike force, and are deployable to any nation, any time. They are a very versatile force.

Paramilitary Organizations

There is currently one recognized Paramilitary Organization in Asgarnieu. It is the Civil Air Defense Group. The CADG operates 500 Douglas A1-H Skyraider Aircraft. The aircraft are uniformly armed with 4 20mm Cannons, but the other 8,000 pounds of mixed ordinance are up to the individual pilots. The CADG also performs Seach and Rescue operations as well as performs at civil events.

Order of Asgarnian Citizen's Rights

The Order of Asgarnian Citizen's Rights was signed in Lyra Settlement.

9)The right to choose a religion and practice said religion with persecution from the government
