Daurmont, or more precisely the alderdom of Greater Daurmont, is the capital and primary cultural and financial centre of the United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland (UKIN). The area within the modern boundaries of the Greater Daurmont Alderdom has been inhabited continuously for several millennia. Situated upon the River Isling (Anguistian An Uislíadh or Greywater), present-day Daurmont emerged from the ancient Anguistian communities of Cér an dUislíadh[1] on the river and the massive hill fort at Dón nan Dárich mór[2] in reference to the fort's massive oaken walls.
After the seizure of the area by Anglo-Frisian speaking peoples, the communities retained their names albeit in a much altered form. The site of the destroyed hill fort of Dón nan Dárich mór became Daúrmúnd[3] or the citadel of the village on the river, Isling. Upon this ruin, successive local Anglo-Frisian kings built their own forts, culminating in what is now know as Heringof Castle (then the Herenghœf[4]), which became a royal residence from Forthar I to Edmund II. The Heringof was the occasional seat of early incarnations of Parliament as well, until it became permanently established at Pechtas Castle with the creation of the Court of Rolls by Alfred I in 1352.
