Liverpool England is in the region of The Heartland, and has always been bar a few times when regional arguments got in the way. The nation is most reputed for its' sporting achievements, having won two major sporting titles, and hosting four others, excluding minor competitions inside The Heartland.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as Healthcare and Public Transport receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry, ranking 5th in The Heartland and 560th in the world at last count.

The nation is also a signatory of the Trade Network Association founded by The Dominion of Dread Lady Nathicana which includes signatories, to name a few, Scolopendra, Iuthia and Iraqstan, and its major trading partners within The Heartland are Aerigia, Grays Harbor, Ineptia and the members of the inactive alliance of the Partnership for Peace and Prosperity. The nation also holds the title of Minister of Recruitment to The Heartland.

Government

Liverpool England used to be run by the President, Dave Goh, who refused to hold major elections, only allowing constituency elections. When the nation became the Greater Imperial Kingdom, Goh took the throne, but later stepped down in favour of elections, where he secured a narrow victory over Konishiwa Itshumitzu by under 1% of the vote.

Present Day

Presently, Goh and Itshumitzu hold President and Vice President positions, although they leave the running of the country to Premier Marc Newells, who served as Sport Minister, later Defence Minister, under Goh.

National elections still rarely happen, but more local elections take place. Three main parties contest elections, however, most of the time the main party, which is the ruling party, wins.

Politics, Regional and Global

Regional

The Liverpool England government are active within The Heartland, and were thrice elected to the Heartland High Council before elections were scrapped within the region. Liverpool England is also a founding member of the Partnership for Peace and Prosperity, alongside Grays Harbor, Aerigia and Clearwater. The Partnership contained over 15 members, but this number has since decreased. The Liverpool England Representative to The Heartland's Senate is 34-year-old Gary Lucreski.

Global

The government has gone into isolation from global politics, but still maintain certain ties with other nations. Occasionally, the Government will choose to step into conflict, but it rarely happens.
