Liga Starblaydia - Season 6
First Half
Phraen Palace didn't get off to their usual superb start - quite the opposite in fact. Instead it was Internashionale who signalled their intentions early as they destroyed the Palace 4-0 on the opening matchday with a hat-trick from Giovanni Lopez and one from Innit Point. Not to be outdone, James Chitterling bagged a hat-trick of his own on Matchday 2 to catapult Jhanna United to the top of the table in a 4-1 win over bottom of the table Montepool Waves. The Waves, however, soon notched up the highest score of the season with a 5-0 demolition of Neveheim County, new Turorian signing Jutar Ranaso bagging four of the five goals.
By Matchday Five the final undefeated records had gone as Tabeck FC, Inter and Vecchio Victors all fell to defeat as Dimitrios Steliopolous dragged his Veles side to the top. There were many surprises in the first half of the season. Jhanna United and the Beverington Hawks being at the top were somehow not the greatest surprise, however.
The true surprise packages were the Karak Ungor Chiefs, the all-Dwarf team from Karak Ungor. For five Matchdays towards the mid-point in the season they reigned supreme, having only been promoted to Liga Starblaydia last season after five years languishing in Liga Omega. A fairytale about to come true? The next 18 matchdays would find out.

Penningworth Vs Hernsworth
For Phraen to stay up, they would need provincial rivals Penningworth United to give them a leg-up by thrashing Hernsworth's goal-difference. Rabindra Singh and Dave Wilkey duly obliged, chopping the Cubs down by four goals, almost halving the difference between Phraen and Hernsworth's Goal difference.
- Final Score: Penningworth United 4-0 Hernsworth Cubs
Phraen Palace Vs Hecia
Phraen Palace had destiny within their own hands. They needed to win, and win big. They started well as Inivilati Yen and Waldo Gelmer provided them with goals, but after Abysmali Squu was sent off for being rubbish, Hecia got back into the game with two goals of their own, sending Palace down to Liga Omega.
- Final Score: Phraen Palace 2-2 Hecia
Jhanna United Vs Iskara Daii
With the fate of the Liga Starblaydia title to be determined exclusively in the captial, Jhanna, Iskara Daii only needed a bare draw to have the title sewn up barring a JCFC romp. United, as per all season, upset the Daii apple-cart with goals from James Chitterling and Joe Kippenberger denying the Daii a final-day win. It was now up to Jhanna City to merely win and they would be crowned Champions.
- Final Score: Jhanna United 2-1 Iskara Daii
Jhanna City Vs Karak Ungor
Those paying attention would have realised that this would not be the easiest of matches for JCFC as they faced the superb Chiefs, though one wonders quite where their skills have come from. Itechton Matranga, as per usual, gave JCFC the lead, though it needed Contall Rumaoa to toe-poke a second goal past the Dwarven 'keeper before City could celebrate their new title in style.
- Final Score: Jhanna City 2-1 Karak Ungor Chiefs
- Jhanna City are Champions

Season 6 Awards
Player of the Year
Itechton Matranga - (Jhanna City)
Three seasons on from his first Player of the Year award, Itechton Matranga comes romping back to be the first player to clain the award twice. A superb season for the Jhanna City team and, as its inspirational Captain, he takes a lot of the plaudits for it.
Other Nominees: Giovanni Lopez, Nick Cavaletti
Young Player of the Year
It's not affirmative action or women's lib or anything like that, it's the simple fact that Cherry Garcia was the best player in Liga Starblaydia who was under 21 when the Season started. Pretty obvious, considering her pace, crossing and goalscoring abilities.
Other Nominees: Deitmar Mussorgsky, Raul Diaz-Arca
Striker of the Year
Giovanni Lopez - (Internashionale)
Just how good is this kid at scoring goals? Wham, bam, thanyou Giovann'.
Other Nominees: Jutar Ranaso, Florencio Zaragoza
Midfielder of the Year
Contall Rumaoa - (Jhanna City)
Young Vilitan midfielders always seem to do well in Liga Starblaydia - they all look young, of course, must be because they grow old twice as gracefully as anyone else - and Contall is no exception. Employed on the left wing in the best team of the year, Contall was a crucial midfield factor in JCFC's dazzling show.
Other Nominees: Cherry Garcia, Zack Vincent
Defender of the Year
Tulio Arizmendi - (Jhanna City)
Never has Tulio lived up to his tag of 'a one-man back-four' quite as well as this season. Though with an excellent goalie behind him, Tulio's one-man-show at the back of an excellent JCFC team ensured their Liga Starblaydia victory. They wouldn't have their title without him, which is saying something.
Other Nominees: Quentin Phillips, Leopoldo Lopez
Goalie of the Year
Nick Cavaletti - (Iskara Daii)
Breaking the record for number of clean sheets in a season as well as the least ammount of team goals conceeded in a season, 'The Cat' retains his 'Keeper of the year title over stiff competition from two of Starblaydia's finest.
Other Nominees: Thaddeus Gonzalez, Elwood Deangelo
Goal of the Season
Menecrates - (Corinthian Spirits) (Corinthian Spirits 2-2 Karak Ungor Chiefs, Matchday 25)
A pin-point cross on a great counter-attack gives young Menecrates a chance for a scorching scissor-kick at the back post that practically breaks the net, never mind breaking the hearts of the Dwarven Chiefs fans who had been 2-0 up.

Foreigner Report
Abysmalistan
Abysmalis rejoice! Squu's team, Phraen Palace were just one place from the bottom and the left-sided midfielder scored a brilliant three own-goals in the season (unfortunately he scored twice at the other end of the pitch too) and received a red card on the final day to ensure his team didn't stay up. Truly an Abysmal!
Audioslavia
Deitmar Mussorgsky is, as far as we can remember, the first Audioslavian ever to play in Liga Starblaydia. The man from Machinegrad helped take his team to second in the league as an ample, if inexperienced, replacement for Antonis Ratuva in the center of midfield. Unfortunately for Iskara Daii, second place is a step down for them from last season, so they'll be wanting to improve.
Bedistan
Quentin Phillips, in his final season, couldn't manage yet-another Liga title to add to his already impressive haul of Liga Starblaydia medals from the Daii. Their defence, however, looks a lot more leaky now without him. Greg Moon at the Hallad Reavers slotted in perfectly on the right-hand side of midfield as Hallad finished in seventh position, their highest placing for a long time. Zack Vincent can, however, be thankful for a solid mid-table finish.
Cockbill Street
James Chitterling is the only Streetian in Liga Starblaydia and his striking power took his team to fifth place and earned him eigth-place in the Golden Boot with seventeen goals - a good season all round for him.
Druida
Glynn Davies actually scored the final Tuncastle Rovers goal of the season which ended up giving them a +1 goal difference, a 2-1 victory over Beverington. 16 points from top, 22 from bottom gives Glynn a warm feeling inside. Trevor Bent was one of the few bright sparks in an injury-ravaged Vics side but his 14 goals, despite a lack of service, shows where this team could go when they're fit and healthy. Aging pair Huw Richards and Graig Gawain got Jhanna United 5th Place but they're still the 3rd-best team in Jhanna.
Fmjphoenix
Angelus Lugio was excellent in Tuncastle's goal, despite conceeding exactly 50 goals in the season to put them top of the bottom -half. Larry Brown at the Wolves contributed well to his team's 50 goals-scored, but he'll need to pull his defensive socks up if they want to improve on 14th place.
Insane Inflation
Despite netting 11 times over the season, Inivilati Yen and his Phraen Palace side will be seeing Liga Omega for the forseeable future.
Liverpool England
Carlos Parr and the Waves finish in the Top-Three for the fourth consecutive season - a new Liga Starblaydia Record, plus they got to win the Tiberius Cup for a second time too. Jacob Becker did alright in the Tuncastle midfield, whiel Glenn Schultz and Bobby Muniz were part of a very, very leaky Vics defence. As they makeup half of the back-four, its not a special season for them. Fred Pounds, anchor in the Hecia midfield, had a very good season, however, as 10th-placed Hecia just need to learn how to snatch draws from the jaws of defeat.
Nedalia
Innit Point, the only Nedalian in the League, scored 14 goals and - along with Starblaydi Giovanni Lopez, gave Inter the highest goal-tally of the season and 8th place. Just a pity that they only conceeded less that the teams in 18th, 19th and 20th. Defensive awareness is required from players like Point to imporve that position.
Rejistania
The cosmopolitan Tuncastle Rovers line-up continues with Sike~nni~l Vanataraselidene, better know as "Zikey". Leading the line, his 13 goals were invaluable to the Rovers. Syku Isita, in a similar vein, scored 16 goals, putting him in the top ten for the Golden Boot, without him, Widdrington would surely have been relegated.
Spruitland
Robbad I Asay was denied a solitary 10th-place in the Golden Boot, after Menecrates equalled his tally of 15 on the last day to leave Asay in joint-tenth place. Waldo Gelmer will ply his trade in Liga Omega next year unless an offer comes in for him, as he was one of the brightest stars in the Phraen Palace side.
Turori
Jutar Ranaso lifted the Tiberius Cup and was man-of-the-match in the Final. He also managed fifth-equal in the overall Golden Boot for the league with 19 goals. He was the best Turorian in the league by a distance - good job! Good old Hong Knapko, on the other hand - just how old is he? We can't even find out, but he's still there, like a running joke down the left wing at the Vics. Martiia Rawaii had some excellent debut-season performances at Jhanna City - and winning the title can't be too bad either. Well done to her. Ialb Iaou, Hecia left-back, did alright too, despite the zero fanfare upon his arrival. Nikki Inostraza, on the other hand, just sat in the stands and watch all season for Jhanna United, but they just love him up there anyway.
Vilita
Tyrone Amaan and Toby Tzikas at Basian Valley just scraped away from the Relegation zone, though the attacking-midfielder Tzikas was once again the Valley's top scorer with 13. Rowan Majara needs to pick up the pace in central midfield and realise that moving backwards is just as required as going forwards, otherwise Inter will never get near the top. Jhanna City and their Vilitans performed excellently: Tulio Arizmendi and Contall Rumaoa picked up the Defender and Midfielder of the Year honours respectively in this title-winning campaign, while the unheralded Brandon Bonilla was probably just-as-crucial to their success. Rueben Laberge and Carmine Mbidzo just didnt quite hit top gear at Iskara, though 20 goals for Mbizdo will give him some comfort.
