It is controlled by the Krytenian Football Association (KFA), the governing body for football in the nation. Krytenia are, alongside Starblaydia, the most established of the footballing Atlantian Oceania nations who have not won the World Cup. Whereas regional rivals Crystilakere, Vilita, Bedistan and Sarzonia have all won the World Cup in its recent history, Krytenia are one of the oldest of the footballing AO nations not on that list. Krytenia have never won a major trophy - their closest moment coming with defeat to Starblaydia in the final of AOCAF
HistoryWorld Cup 15Krytenia first entered the World Cup Qualifiers for World Cup 15 in an attempt to travel to The Eagles Nest and Eauz. Led by Seth Grüber, Krytenia were ranked 121st in the World thanks to their impressive debut a few months earlier in the Baptism Of Fire Cup - in a tournament that included future great nations Starblaydia, Oaker, and Turori. Their first Qualifying match ended in defeat away at the hands of Lovebug, 2-1, with Ari Smith scoring Starblaydia's first World Cup goal. Despite an impressive 2-1 defeat of then-greats Dennisov, the Celestials were eliminated sixth. AOCAF 1Organising the first AO Regional Tournament, and taking up the tasking of hosting, Krytenia would eventually finish fourth in a tournament notable for the emergence of Sarzonia. Cup of Harmony 7Hosting a tournament does not guarantee success, as Krytenia found when hosting this tournament. They won only one of six games, the wooden spoon match against Lykaia. World Cup 16The second attempt at Qualification for the World Cup came with a shot at getting to Rejistania and Brazillico for World Cup 16. Ari Smith and Colin Ulvæus filled their boots, and the side wrapped up qualification by defeating Squornshelous - finalists in the previous World Cup. At the finals, however, they were outclassed. One point from nine, garnered against The Eagles Nest, saw Krytenia home from Rejistania before their postcards. AOCAF 2Somewhat distracted by the John Nwoko incident, a two-one defeat to Xile the low point of elimination in the first round. Political reasons meant it would be sixteen years before Krytenia returned to this tournament. (More To Come)
Home StadiumKrytenia do not have a single 'national stadium' like many other nations, home matches played in several Krytenian cities. The Davis Memorial Stadium, Everton City, is the largest in the country, seating 115,000 fans and is most often used for the most-important occasions. Stadia in the cities of Bromham, Ousevale, Avidia, Aigburth and New Osteria play host to the national team most regularly; even the KLF's smallest ground, the Q-Soft Stadium in Neathill has hosted a game.
